sc49erfan15
(2) You're seriously trying to tell us that an organization that has corporate offices in Conover (pop. 6,600) and Mooresville (pop. 19,000) North Carolina, not to mention the majority of tracks residing in the Upland SouthI'm not bashing NASCAR (I'm mild F1 and moderate WRC by nature) but to say that NASCAR isn't rooted in Redneck Upland South culture is some seriously silly revisionism.Something wrong with the location of Nascar's offices, sir? I know you're not trying to play the "haha, that town is sooo small" game. (You also forgot to mention that Nascar has offices in NYC, LA, Mexico City, and Toronto.)And maybe it is just the amount of Earnhardt Jr. merchandise I see daily...I just assumed most sports fans could pick up that the topic was referring to Ralph Dale Earnhardt, Jr. if you spotted them the word "Junior" and a white, italicized 8 on a red background. My bad. And I don't even watch NASCAR outside of the Daytona 500. On 8/1/2010 at 4:01 PM, winters in buffalo said: You manage to balance agitation with just enough salient points to keep things interesting. twi
Why is it accpetable to say NASCAR is mainly for rednecks but not to say basketball is for blacks? If I have a point, it's that everyone can enjoy everything.88, good choice, although it will be a while before 88 on a car doesn't mean Jarrett to me. Besides, Conover isn't in Charlotte's MSA [Edit, looked that up after further research, so ha! ] so I can play the too small of a town card today if I want! As for NASCAR's offices in New York, LA, Toronto, and Mexico City, those are recent too, so whilst they have corporate offices in big cities, their main offices in Daytona Beach and Charlotte let us know where NASCAR's heartland really is. [Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008 Attention: In order to obtain maximum enjoyment from your stay at the CCSLC, the reader is advised that the above post may contain large amounts of sarcasm, dry humour, or statements which should not be taken in any true sort of seriousness. DG_ThenNowForever
Why is it accpetable to say NASCAR is mainly for rednecks but not to say basketball is for blacks? Because, and I say this as a bleeding heart liberal, fat people and rednecks are the only categories of Americans it is socially acceptable to make fun of. But it evens out, because rednecks still get to choose our presidents. I'd take that. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

I'd bet that even the most casual sports fan has heard of Dale Jr. I seriously doubt the same could be said for Seau. Â Â Â Â
kid_17
I'm a big baseball fan from San Diego and when I saw the topic title it never occured to me that it might mean Griffey Jr. or Seau, I instantly thought of DE Jr for a couple of reasons:1. I refer to him as Jr. (and Jimmie Johnson as Big Jimmie!)2. He's in the process of receiving his new "identity" from Hendrick Motorsports, so the topic title was pretty obviously about Jr.Unless you're not into Nascar, which I guess most people arent. STL FANATIC
My first thought was Griffey, but only because the Cards had just played the Reds and because Griffey just switched numbers this year (I think...wasn't last year was it?) as well.To be honest, I'd put Dale and Griffey right next two each other on the Jr. List. Nobody else is close. JUSTIN STRIEBEL | PORTFOLIO | RESUME | CONTACT
