Rangers considering change back to red?

Plus the Astros are red.......for now. they are due for another uniform change if they are gonna follow team history. I liked the Rangers red uniforms back then, but their current set looks really good to me

I don't understand why people think the Astros change their uniforms all the time. They started out as the Colt .45's and then changed to the Astros when they moved to the Dome. From that point on their uniforms evolved but for the most part stayed true to their identity for 25 years or so. Then when they were bought by Drayton they changed to the Blue and Gold and, yes, a few years later changed to what they have now when they moved to MMP. Since 1965 they've only had a complete redesign twice.

Great. Another red uniform.

As opposed to another blue uniform? Either way, there's a severe lack of color creativity in baseball.

I couldn't agree more. It just seems like the red uniforms all look alike more than the blue ones do.

That's why I liked the Pirates in their 70s uniforms, with the mixes of black, yellow, and white jerseys and pants. Too many baseball teams just look too similar, and I agree there are too many blue or red uniforms.

With 162+ games a year, baseball should at least consider more alts and let teams wear pants other than white or gray...let's add some color to the game!

Hell no. It looked horrible in the 70's and 80's and it would look horrible today. That only color pants that MAY be acceptable (other than white and gray) would be black and light blue. Maybe.

Cardinals -- Rams -- Blues -- Tigers -- Liverpool

Does anybody else ever view the Rangers as the "under the radar" team? Throughout their entire history they seem to have never been too bad or too good. The just go through the season and never make much noise.

Yes, I have always thought there were a few teams in pro sports that fit that description. The Rangers are the perfect example of it.

On topic, there are some great color combos that baseball could try. I think a deep maroon and grey or silver combo would be killer. It probably wouldn't work for The Rangers but someone should give it a go.

Texas Rangers

Memphis/Vancouver Grizzlies (Was the Cavs till the LeBron Era)

Florida Panthers

New York Jets (Other than the Broadway Joe days and that a close friend of mine is the only Jets fan I've ever met, I'd hardly notice)

I was literally JUST discussing this with a good buddy of mine.

Hell, I grew up 20 minutes from Manhattan and I'm only friends with 2 Jet fans....and about 124326262356 Giants fans.

And when everyone became Yankee fans during the mid-late 90's and the Mets sucked--and then we lost to them in the WS...oh god...

Me and the one other Met fan I knew were made fun of to no-end.

But you know what? It's worth it now...

Well, for the Mets at least :P ...

(And as an aside, it's a running joke we have that if the Jets ever by some miracle made it back to the Super Bowl one day, there'd be NO hype for the game, NO anticipation, and maybe 22 people (thats 22--not 22 million) across the country would watch. It's a poor joke--we know...)

That said, I do think the Rangers have room to improve their jersey script. I mean, I love their jersey scripts as-is, but the degree to which the Angels ripped them off is troubling.

Hard to say the Angels ripped them off. It always troubled me that the two teams had similar scripts in the mid '90s -- particularly because four letters matched exactly in the same order -- and I just checked Dressed to the Nines to confirm my suspicions, and the Angels had it first, even in red at home:

The Angels went to this look in 1993 (and of course, it was based on a throwback from the '60s). The next year -- 1994 -- Texas moved to the same script with red as the primary color:

Of course, the Angels went Disney in 1997, then Texas switched to blue starting in 2000 and finishing it in 2001. The next year the Angels went back to the similar script from the '90s/'60s mixed with '70s/'80s aspects and red as the dominant color. Now, the red might be considered a ripoff, but the Rangers had abandoned it. But the Angels using that script predates the Rangers. A case could be made that the ripoff was the other way around.

Perhaps the Rangers would be better served with a whole new identity, other than a color change. After all, you have the ultimate inspiration for a logo, one that would guarantee victory.

Funny, I know about twice as many Jets fans as Giants fans in Manhattan. And as for anecdotal evidence, I see as many green caps and shirts on the street as I do blue....

I couldn't disagree more.. I live in Manhattan too, and I rarely see Jets gear. Most of the Jets I know are from Long Island or northwest Jersey.

Hmm. Well, that's why it's anecdotal, I guess. Everyone's experience will vary.

Or maybe it's a Chelsea thing. Everyone I talked to in my neighborhood was also in favor of the new Jets stadium.

they may have only done a huge overhaul only twice, but 2 of those happened within 10 years of each other. the astros just cant seem to stick with one look for long. i am sure they primaries will change in some way within the next 2 or 3 years
