Saintsfan's Week 12 power rankings

1 New Orleans Saints

2 Indianapolis Colts

3 Minnesota Vikings

4 Cincinnati Bengals

5 San Diego Chargers

Bubbling under Patriots, Cowboys, Eagles, Broncos, Packers

Bottom 5

32 Cleveland Browns

31 St Louis Rams

30 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

29 Detroit Lions

28 Kansas City Chiefs

Looking over the precipice Raiders, Bills, Redskins, Seahawks, Panthers

Notes- Impressive Monday night win has the Saints overtaking the Colts at the top. The Patriots slip out of the top 5, after another defeat against one of the two pace setters this week. The Bengals win over the Browns is enough to lift them into the top bracket and the Chargers stay in the top 5 thanks to a win over the Chiefs.

At the bottom, the Bills climb out of the basement after a good divisional win over the 'fins, The Browns, Rams and Buccs continue to look a class apart (in a bad way) from the rest of the league, with the Lions making an effort to break free of the bottom 3.

NEP's Week 13 Power Rankings

(1)T1. Colts: What didn't look like your typical Colts team in the first half against Houston quickly turned into the Monster the rest of us are accustom to.

(2)T1. Saints: Saints told the Patriots who's boss and Drew Brees 5 TD's were just the icing on the cake.

(3)3. Vikings: The Vikings are dominating every team they come across now it's on to face the Cards who could be Kurt Warnerless.

(4)4. Chargers: Could put two games up on the Broncos this week with a win over the lowly Browns.

(6)5. Bengals: The Baltimore Ravens did them a favor and they can extend their lead in the AFC North with a win over the Lions.

(9)6. Cowboys: Still didn't look like a team that could be a threat come January and guess what we've just entered Tony Romo's most hated month. Games against the (Giants, Chargers, Saints, Redskins and Eagles) still lurk.

(5)7. Patriots: If this defense doesn't get fixed quick it could be a very quick exit come January that's if they even make it that far.

(NR)8. Packers: Key to the success of late is keeping Aaron Rodgers protected but with teams like the Ravens and Steelers still to come that must continue for the Packers to make the Playoffs.

(NR)9. Eagles: Wasn't the prettiest of games against the Skins but it was just enough to keep the Eagles within striking distance of the Cowboys.

(7)10. Cardinals: Though Matt Leinart didn't play the best of games in the absence of Kurt Warner but he didn't cost the Cardinals against the Titans either.

-------------------------------------------------------

11. Broncos

12. Ravens

13. Titans

14. Steelers

15. Falcons

-------------------------------------------------------

(NR)28. Raiders: Why again were the Raiders scheduled to play the Cowboys in front of National Television?

(30)29. Buccaneers: Again the Bucs came so close to collecting their 2nd victory on the season and it could happen this week against the Panthers.

(29)30. Lions: Matt Stafford got beat up on Thanksgiving that is all.

(31)31. Rams: There all wasn't enough as they fell once again at home to the Seattle Seahawks, but I do believe that there are some bright spots on this team.

(32)32. Browns: Granted they always play the Bengals defense but this team really needs a lot of help to even be close to contending within the next 5 years.

Week 13 Key Games

Eagles @ Falcons

Titans @ Colts

Cowboys @ Giants

Vikings @ Cardinals

Ravens @ Packers

NEP's Week 14 Power Rankings

(T1)1. Colts: Indianapolis was the first team to stand up to the Titans most likely dashing there playoff hopes but the next two games should really show if the Colts can go 16-0. (vs. Denver, @ Jacksonville)

(T1)2. Saints: They caught a lot of breaks this past Sunday, Shawn Suisham missing a chip shot that would have made it a 10 point game with just a little over 2:00 left, and a questionable Mike Sellers fumble in OT.

(4)3. Chargers: My pick to make it to the Super Bowl out of the AFC is actually starting to scare a lot of teams best be on the lookout Dallas.

(3)T4. Vikings: Wasn't all entirly Brett Favre's fault for the reason the Vikes lost to the Cards, Adrian Peterson isn't running the ball as well as he's capable of and the defense got exposed and now they've lost there certain Pro Bowl Linebacker E.J. Henderson to a broken leg for the rest of the season.

(5)T4. Bengals: Haven't really played anyone of note as of late but probably their toughest competition awaits them at Mall of America Field to take on the Angry Vikings.

(10)6. Cardinals: Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin torched the Vikings secondary and now it's on to San Francisco where the Division title could very well be the Cards to lose.

(8)7. Packers: They looked really bad at certain points last night but Aaron Rodgers with much thanks to Jermichael Finley and bad Raven penalties helped the Packers control their own destiny in the Wild Card chase.

(9)8. Eagles: In Mike Vick's return to the ATL showed what this guy can do if he's used correctly, I'd be very scared if I we're you Wade Phillips.

(6)9. Cowboys: Tony Romo started December just like he's used to and a very tough schedule the rest of the way could decide the Cowboys fate. (vs. Chargers, @ Redskins, @ Saints, vs. Eagles)

(NR)10. Broncos: The once forgotten Broncos who were once 6-0 fell to 6-4 and now are back within striking distance of the Chargers and a Wild Card spot.

------------------------------------------------------

11. Patriots

12. Jaguars

13. Giants

14. Dolphins

15. Jets

------------------------------------------------------

(NR)28. Chiefs: Just two weeks ago we we're celebrating the great victory against the Steelers but since then they've been outscored 87-27.

(29)29. Buccaneers: They had the opportunities to really take the game away from the Panthers but mistakes killed those chances.

(31)30. Rams: Played great defense against the Bears and really played them tough in most aspects just couldn't generate the offense I still see some life in this team within the next 3 years.

(30)32. Lions: Took the lead early against the Bengals but they let Matt Stafford get killed some more, just sit the guy and save what's left of his career.

(32)32. Browns: When you think Cleveland Browns you think Jim Brown and now that LT has passed him on the rushing list, Cleveland is not a fun place to be and in April they can ruin another Notre Dame QB with so much potential.

Key Week 14 Games

Broncos @ Colts

Dolphins @ Jaguars

Bengals @ Vikings

Chargers @ Cowboys

Eagles @ Giants

Cardinals @ Niners

How some of you still have the Patriots in the top 10/12 is silly to me. I guess performances from years past are impacting current thought...

I get what you are saying, but they still head there division, and whilst that doesn't necesarilly impact on the principle of a power ranking, in my mind it counts for something. Most of the teams they have lost to have been genuine teams this year, and given the weakness of there division, they have had a reasonably tough schedule. They have a reasonably gentle schedule left to play. Its not so long ago that they were one converted 4th down away from beating the Colts, or beating up on the Titans and Buccs.

Of course it's the name they lead the AFC East albeit by one game but you know that any given game the Pats could break out and everyone would be in love with them again. Do I see them going far in the playoffs of course not be they still belong somewhere from 10-15.
