This is a non-story. Per Capitals Insider:

"I just do it all the time," Ovechkin said with a grin. "The kid was on the boards. I think he's pretty happy about it. "

And indeed, Ovechkin does the same thing every game: He circles the ice, sprints across it and sprays snow into (and often over) the boards before taking a seat at the end of the bench.

I laughed when I saw that on Sportsnation. If anyone is upset about this, they need to get their heads out of their butts. He didn't hurt the kid, he just sprayed a little ice on him. Heck, the kid didn't even notice. :hockeysmiley:

So Ovechkin is all about the comic bit, yet the PR people go crazy over "1920's Reporter Guy" aka Scoops Callahan to the point they they call Buffalo and ask them to deny the a show on the Stars flagship station credentials.

Wow Doan's pre-game interview did not sound encouraging at all. If he is out, even if just for the rest of this series, it is really bad news for the Yotes. And I am amazed by just how many Wing's fans are in that arena.

As a side note, does anyone know if there has ever been any lists made with the best and worst rinks in the NHL rigtht now. Like are there known arena's that have better ice or lighting than others?

Is Scoops still around? I know it's infantile but I loved some of those bits.

I read somewhere that Edmonton and then Montreal have the best ice while Florida has the worst.

Ice in a canadian climate... Good.

Ice in the hot-as-Satan's-balls climate of South Florida... Bad.

Color me shocked...

Not that any of the bandwagon Caps and Pens fans care, but Canucks are up 6-2 in the third. Samuelsson just scored his second of the game, and Quick is coming back in the game after he got pulled late in the second.

Ersberg gave up 2 goals on 4 shots. If Quick lets in another one, I think Murray's going to go 6 skaters for the remainder of the game.

Madison Square Garden is one of the worst ice surfaces in the league because the hockey rink gets taken down and covered up so much. Lots of teams share a building with an NBA team but MSG also has St. John's, the Big East Tournament, the NIT, concerts, etc. I'm pretty sure it's the single busiest venue of its type.

The only building that I think may be just as busy as MSG is Staples Center in Los Angeles. I've heard they have some pretty bad ice as well.

The United Center, another very busy venue, especially with the Bulls and Hawks in the playoffs, has awful ice
