2010 LeBron James Sweepstakes

I hope the Heat march into Cleveland, get the crap booed out of them, then stomp all over the Cavs. Dan Gilbert is a douche, LeBron isn't betraying you. I'm not saying anything groundbreaking or shocking here, but he gave you seven great seasons. You lucked out by getting him in the draft lottery. He became a free agent, which entitles him to do whatever he pleases, just like any other free agent. He went to the Heat for less money because he wants rings. Let's face it, it's probably going to be a lot easier for him to get those rings if he's playing for the Heat. I will applaud, and be very happy for Dan Gilbert if his guarentee of winning one before LeBron happens. Because, heck, he'd be one lucky SOB if his guarentee somehow becomes true. That, and I wouldn't have to hear Cleveland piss and moan about their "heartbreaks" in sports anymore. Jesus, Cleveland, get ahold of yourselves.

As for "The Decision", :censored: happens. He's LeBron, the network was ESPN, you can't expect anything less. Plus the money "raised?" went to charity!

Wojnarowski had a good point about how Gilbert sells crappy mortgages and runs casinos, so really it's not like this is happening to a good guy.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

True, but Lerner Family (Browns) was worse banking wise as they owned MBNA. Gilbert did buy the team after LeBron was drafted, so he got Chinese investors (who will probably soon bail) and Usher. D@mn! Where was Usher asking him to stay in CLE?

Dan Gilbert, as many of you know owns Fathead. He's selling LeBron Fatheads for $17.41. The first person to answer why wins one free internet.

Because 17-41 will be the Cavs record after 58 games next season?

Wouldn't it suck to be one of the other players on the Heat? With those three basically running the show, hanging out with each other, etc., it would be tough to feel more insignificant than to be one of the low paid extras.

Let's see... You're the 6th man on a team with Wade, Lebron, and Bosh. Chances are you'll probably score a few championship rings. You can suck and no one will care...or even notice. And you'll get paid an NBA salary. Sorry Vet but I don't see much downside here.

I think "ltjets21" can tell us the answer.

(Next Friday)

Had to Google that one for myself..... Wow.

Sour grapes, anyone?

They actually had this on the ESPN BottomLine earlier. Gilbert dropped the price from $99 to correspond with the birth year of a certain notorious turncoat general from the Revolutionary War.

This enough of a hint for ltjets?

No O'Reilly

Wow. Really Tank?

You expected better from tNak?

Even by Tank standards it was horrible. It may be his worst attempt at trying to be funny and with Tank that's really saying something.

That aside, I have to admit that I'm fascinated by the thought process that led him to believe it was funny.

Perhaps, but I do consider it to be slightly clever as well.

The issue with a free agent would be how much money they have saved up. The realization that there could be a lockout next year may have a player think longevity over a title. Didn't the NBAPA deliver a counter-proposal to the NBA owners committee today?

As a Cleveland fan, the very though of our hometown hero leaving us hurts. He was one of us, he made us proud, he gave us hope. We have been in tough economic times for a while. The Indians suck. The Browns suck. We've dealt with heartbreak after heartbreak. And to lose our one shining star would be awful for us. That alone makes this hurt and gives fans a right to bitch and moan.

Then there is the fact that LeBron didn't leave to be with a great team and build his legacy. He left for his friends to :censored: up the league for a :censored:ty spoiled fanbase. Christ, at least have some self-respect and be a man in Chicago. Instead, you go to join WADE's team. Goodness.

And on top of all that, it's the way he did it. Spend season after season putting pressure on the Cavs to spend big money, overpay to keep talent, make trade after trade and constantly keep you looking good. The Cavs bent over backwards to build a team custom fit for James and he never finished the job. Two 60 win seasons and people are gonna say he didn't have ANY help. Then he quits on the team even before the closeout game against Boston. Straight up quits! After that he ties the Cavs hands by ignoring them not informing them of the plans that were obviously weeks, maybe months, possibly years in the making. After all this he makes a big spectacle on national TV to dump on Cleveland. With all this added up people still say "it's a business," "it's just sports," "it's his life," and "Cleveland didn't do enough and he can win in Miami." None of this is really the point. Cleveland fans cared deeply because of the false hope he gave us. He said he was on a mission to give us a championship, something the city has waited for since 1964, and instead, he quits.

If you still don't feel for the Cleveland fans and root for Miami (as a non-Heat fan), then I don't know what to say. Obviously, there is something wrong with you or you hate the whole concept of sports so much that you can't comprehend the concept of fanhood.

As for Dan Gilbert, some may think he went overboard but the Cavs fans needed an emotional response that was a little more than a YouTube video of a jersey burning. He spoke for a lot of us, and while his promises are unrealistic, at least he gave us a direction instead of leaving us in the dark like Le- that guy.

But these guys have to have some pride, and it just seems like the big 3 are joined at the hip and anyone else on the team is just on "their" team, as opposed to it being "our" team. I'm sure the 3 aren't jerks and will at least acknowledge everyone else's presence, but IMO it wouldn't be fun to know that you're only on the team because you get paid so little that they can fit you in with those big salaries. If you're the type that just goes through the motions and collects a check, then yeah - getting a ring and telling chicks that you know LeBron so you can get laid is an awesome life.

Chad Ford has reported the deals for the mWo:

LeBron & Bosh sign 6 year, $110M dollar deals. Wade signs 6 year, $107M dollar deal.

I knew someone was going to have to take a paycut. Figured it'd be Wade. In other news, we are now living in a basketball world where Joe Johnson is paid more than LeBron James.

And this has what to do with my post? You're dipping into the pill bottle again aren't you? Regardless of a lockout on the horizon or anything else, the Heat still has to put together a roster for the upcoming season. Vet's question asked if it would suck to be one of the "other players" on the Heat. I responded to it. Even though I don't have even the first clue as to what you're talking about, I'm still pretty certain that it has nothing to do with what Vet and I were discussing.
