I love how Nordiques fans are going to Islanders and Thrashers games in masses to show the NHL they want a team in Quebec City. Beautiful in its simplicity.

If they wanted a team, they'd build that arena.

Ask and it will be built.

I've worked at every Islander home game so far this season and today was the loudest I've heard it all year, including the games against the Rangers. Well done and good luck, Nordiques Nation.

Unless all those Nordique fans have $1 million, there won't be any NHL hockey in Quebec City. I just don't see the Quebec government giving any money to an arena and that is the only way that they are going to get an arena built, an owner who gets half of the arena built by the government. I don't see it happening in Quebec. So unless there are 100 or so millionare Quebec Nordique fans, and they want to donate money to the building of an arena, I just don't see NHL hockey in Quebec City.

Don't underestimate the Federal government's desire to buy Quebec votes.

So is the Federal Government going to help Edmonton also? I know recently I saw a piece on both Edmonton and Quebec and they were talking about getting Government money, but is that just from the province or are they talking money from the National Government? Watching Oil Change on the NHL network, it doesn't look like the City of Edmonton is going to hand over any money for Edmonton's arena. I'm just trying to figure out for one or the other or both, where the Government money is coming from.

Almost 24 hours later, and the way the Caps played sloppily and uninspired last night against the Avs. It may be too soon to say that this is a team in transition from a Cup contender to a pretender, but their lackadaisical play lately speaks volumes. I hope that the Hannan trade is not the only (questionable) trade that GMGM has on the burner.

Also, on a positive note, I met Don and his wife during the first period intermission.

The 3rd was really good. Semin penalty: stupid. Looks like he might be scratched tonight as a result. Andrew Gordon was recalled.

And to think last night the Caps were "competitive". They look listless tonight, down 4-0 to the Rags.

One of the most interesting sequences I've ever seen in a hockey game in tonights Ducks/Wild game.

Mikko Koivu lost his stick in the defensive zone and basically stole Bobby Ryan's stick right out of his own hands. Annti Meittenen pushes Koivu's stick towards the corner where Ryan is. Ryan picks up Koivu's stick and ends up scoring a goal on the play. Ryan is also right handed, where Koivu is left handed...

Right-handed Bobby Ryan scored a goal with Koivu's left-handed stick while Koivu had Ryan's stick on defense.

-------

And the Ducks' top line of Ryan, Perry, and Getzlaf are absolutely dominating the Wild in a 5-2 game midway through the 3rd. Perry has 2 goals (including a shorthanded penalty shot goal) and 2 assists, Ryan has 1 goal and 2 assists, and Getzlaf has 2 goals.

And as long as the Ducks can hold on to that 3 goal lead, they'll have 36 points to tie Dallas at the top of the division and move into 4th place in the conference. However, they'll also have played 33 games, the most in the league and the most in the division by 4,5,6 games. The rest of the division and top 8 in the West are also only 2 pts behind the Ducks. The Ducks always have a disgusting differential in games played for the first 2/3 of the season every single year. Very frustrating to look at the standings and realize that they're not actually as good as their rank really is <_<

Bobby Ryan's goal got some more love today, #10 on SportsCenter and on PTI. But one problem...

The PTI appearance continued to show ESPN's ignorance to the NHL. I mean, it's only been 4 years now

As a Sharks fan this makes me want to get up and dance a jig of glee.

Ok, I'm back from dancing now. If Nabokov thinks he has any shot of getting a job in the NHL when his save percentage was .888% in the KHL, he's insane.

I don't know... The Wings gave Hulder a shot after a year in the KHL and he's even better now...

Woops! He has 1 goal, 5 assists and is a -8 in 25 games this year. :P

Steve Mason gave up two really soft goals early in the first period tonight in Calgary. Scott Arniel had seen enough and pulled him. I love the move. I hate when coaches wait until it gets to 4 or 5 goals to pull a goalie whose head clearly isn't in the game. Arniel pulled Mason before the game got out of hand and get this, the Flames didn't score for the rest of regulation and Blue Jackets came back to force Overtime.

I would be completely okay with Mathieu Garon as the starter. Dude has been fantastic this season. Mason has only been the most pulled goalie in the last two years.

edit: Flames win in overtime, but still good effort to come back and get the point by the Blue Jackets. I bet you Arniel goes with Garon from here on out.

They had to exile Down's Baby for a year because of the salary cap. They didn't give up on him.

PTI stands for complete and total ignorance. Really. The only thing those two know about sports is how to yell louder than the other. That's it. They've never said anything thought provoking, memorable, or even intelligent. So until they say something worth... well actually, nevermind, Duke has a better shot to win the BCS National Championship than those two at saying anything worth listening to.
