The hawks/avs game last night was a clinic in terrible defense or incredible offense, I'm not sure, but leaning towards terrible defense.

The NHL should bring the Winter Classic to Los Angeles, already. Yeah, it's a nice novelty seeing hockey played in snowy stadiums, but imagine Kings-Ducks on the beach. Santa Monica. Beautiful people in swimsuits hanging around, checking out the action. It'd be amazing.

The "novelty" of seeing hockey being played in snowy stadiums is a big part of the Winter Classic game's appeal. You lose that you lose part of what makes the game special.

The Winter Classic is the one game the NHL puts on that average American sports fans actually care about. The NHL doesn't need to ruin that by messing with it.

Not necessarily. A Winter Classic in Los Angeles would be a great idea. Yeah, the game should probably be played in northern, snowy cities most of the time, but a game in Los Angeles would be a great idea and it would work.

Would be interesting to see. But the real question for me is: would So Cal's weather even allow it to work? Would the ice rink last for very long or would they have to settle for playing roller hockey instead?

Technically the Ducks still use that logo. Except it's in different colours. And in an oval.

Bad ESPN.

One of the Bay guys here put forth a pretty good proposal for how the Sharks could stage a Winter Classic up at Lake Tahoe with a bunch of temporary bleachers and stuff. That would be something I'd get behind. It might've been IronChefShark, but then again I think I was allowed to reply and say I liked it, so strike that.

Indeed. Los Angeles? Not so much.

It's not a proposed "fix." The game is in a different city every year. LA's a huge market and deserves it. This will happen.

And it will be as much of a national joke as those proposals to play arena football games outdoors.

Losing streak hits seven....

Great win for the Ducks on the other side of it. Looks like they're back into that stride that gave them that 6 game winning streak last month.

On the opposing view, something just looks off with the Capitals compared to the other times I've watched them. They just don't look like a confident group. There is a little hesitation to everything they do. What's their deal? Or is that something Caps fans want to know as well?

And another Caps related note, the HBO 24/7 of the Winter Classic starts tonight. Looks to be another great edition of the 24/7 series.

Agreed. I wish I could have been there to support the Orange and Black, but alas tickets were too hard to come by. I at least got to see them on TV. Looks like Getz and Lups are starting to come together and get better every game.
