ltjets21
I threw this together in like a minute so it's nothing amazing but it could give you the idea of what it looks like.Edit: Heres a 2D one:I'll do any other field/team if you want.I'm not even gonna front, the Panthers field would look awesome if it was electric blue.No. No it wouldn't. It would look horrible, just like Eastern Washington's red field looks! Can I see it with white endzones?
BlueSky
ever since i first saw boise state's field, i've fantasized about the raiders going with a black field.imagine how intimidating that would be... a black field, with grey markings. the home team in black and silver. the fans in the stands are clad in all black with black and white and silver facepaint. the sky is grey.literally the only colors you would see as an opposing player would be your teammates and your team color. in a sea of drab grey-scale death.i think it would look amazing and really give the road team a sense of isolation, and being in enemy territory. Were all the leaves brown? Did you go on a walk on a winter's day? Would you be safe and warm if you were in L.A.? Mamas and Papas aside, shades of green for a custom field are one thing. Any other color (Boise State and Eastern Washington) are entirely another and should not be considered by any self-respecting team. It's not about tradition, it's about the ease of watching a game (or lack thereof). Can you seriously say you'd be fine sitting through three hours of this? I was listening to the audio more than I was watching the game. Then I just gave up.
hawk36
I can't even look at that photo for more than a couple of seconds without my eye's hurting. Wonder what long term damage is being done to EWU players?
MC2
I don't know what is wrong with your guy's eyes. But I can look at that picture, and Boise States field with literally no problem. I don't understand what's difficult.

mania
Out of all the things that people have joked about, the OW! MY EYES! stuff, this is the first thing I've ever seen in sports design that has hurt my eyes... and I say this as someone who has no issue, besides the fact it's a little goofy as , with the smurf turf. illwauk
I have no problem with the smurf turf and even I can't stand to look at EWU's field. That said, I could see some colored NFL fields working... Jaguars using teal, Raiders using grey, Browns using... well.... brown. But aside from the teams that use green, there's probably not more than a handful that could seriously pull this off. Lights Out
How about the Chargers using navy? The Chargers wearing their powder blues on navy turf with yellow endzones (or powder blue) would look amazing.
Chapeeko
The Seahawks would look sick. (in a good way)
GriffinM6
Maybe a powder blue field for the chargers, because of the temperature in Southern California.Navy blue would make it too hot.
lenardo
Maybe a powder blue field for the chargers, because of the temperature in Southern California.Navy blue would make it too hot.I personally think that normal looking shades of blue, green, or teal(jags) would look good. Not only is powder blue bright and would get annoying after a while, the navy would look much better and San Diego isn't usually that hot in my experiances, I've visited multiple times in the summer and it has never felt hot at all. Warm yes, stays between the 60s and 80s all year. But I don't live there, just what I've felt in my visits and what I've heard. Though yellow endzones would look really bad. dolfan13
Are there any rules in the NFL regarding the color of the turf? Or does it have to be green? But, does it matter what shade of green? Because I was thinking if the Jets had their own set of turf they could have their whole field dark green. Thanks for any insight. As if the smurf turf of Boise St. wasn't enough, Eastern Washington installed an eye blinding red turf in their stadium this past year. That crap needs to stay in College (actually, it doesn't belong anywhere...period). The ghosts of football past will be collectively rolling in their graves if this ridiculous idea ever comes to the NFL.

These, and any other specified markings, must be in white, and there shall be no exceptions without authorization of the Commissioner. rainmaker17
Boise State gets to do it because that's their thing. It looks ridiculous when someone else tries it, however. I hope the first NFL team to try it gets sent to the UFL.It looks ridiculous period. One reason I'm tired of that team.
rainmaker17
Knew this would drive the traditionalists here crazy. Some teams wouldn't be so bad. People acting like a darker shade of green is "horrible" though? lol... my god, really? "I hate it because I'm not used to it!! WAAHH"No. Grass is green genius. Even if it's fake grass, it should be based on something that actually existed in the history of the game.
