And yes, great win by the Natties. Team's really got a new swagger to them this year. I think the days are gone where we are the worst team in baseball.

Yeah. They're in Da House w/o a Doubt.

Yeah. Keep beating that joke to death man, it's getting funnier every time!

Sorry, I just laugh to myself whenever I see your board name.

The O's are slowly heading towards reality. They go 3-0 in their first series, 2-1 in their second series, 1-2 in their third series. It was fun while it lasted, but I think we'll see the real team soon. Of course, I hope I'm wrong.

Os beat Nats in the World Series. 4 games to 2!

You must be on some serious drugs.

The O's? Maybe, if they keep up this awesome play all year. The Nationals? Not with the Phillies and Braves in their division.

no, the Nats have the team. and it"s my dream world series.

And yet, if they both continue at their current paces, she will only catch Tank on August 14, 2014.

Also, Joe Blanton still sucks.

You mean he hasn't gotten any better in the 24 hours that have passed since your last Joe Blanton rant? Shocking. :P

The Red Sox are now 2-9. Life is good here in Red Sox Hater Nation.

No, nor has he used a treadmill in those 24 hours. He's the luckiest man on the face of the earth - he got a ridiculously large contract for someone of his "ability" due to arbitration, he's already won one WS, and he's a starter on what some have called one of the best rotations ever, and due to his status as a pro athlete, he probably gets to bang his choice of moderately-attractive women despite the fact that his thing probably doesn't extend much past his gut, yet he just doesn't seem to care. How can he not be motivated to try and get into the same category as those other 4 pitchers? Just lose some damn weight. I really don't dislike players for not having talent, and I wouldn't boo him for simply being bad (that's more management's fault for misjudging talent) but when a guy just doesn't put forth the effort, that's a disgrace.

And his stupid facial hair looks dumb too.

A few months before Philly picked him up from Oakland I posted on here that soon enough some team was going to be stupid enough to trade for Joe Blanton (I also guessed correctly that the team that would snag him in a panic would be the Phils) and that it was going to turn out to be an absolutely awful decision no matter who Oakland got in return. The dude is an enormous waste of space, but it was so blatantly obvious at the time of the trade. All anyone had to do was watch three of Blanton's starts with Oakland and they could easily see his bad decision making and lack of work ethic rear it's ugly head during the corse of those three games. I don't blame Joe for being lazy even in his situation, he's always been a worthless POS. I blame the Phillies for wasting so much time, effort, and cash on the dude.

She's right, guys. Look at their team. Cesar Izturis. Brian Roberts. Vladimir Guerrero. Derrek Lee. If I was you, I'd be quite afraid of this team!

If it was 2005.

The Sawxpocalypse continues. By the way, as a Rays fan, the rest of you Sox haters are welcome. :)

Im happy about the Sawxpocalpse. and would be happy with a Yankpocalpse. and a Blue Jaypocalpse. Rays win Wild Card. O"s win Division. and im a happy girl.

So, the White Sox bullpen has converted 1 save in 7 opportunities. That's, uh, probably okay, right?

The Phillies had no choice but to get Blanton. I don't remember who else was available at the time, but Adam Eaton was killing them in the rotation, and their fantastic bullpen was faltering because of overwork, so they desperately needed someone who could keep them in games past the 5th inning. Blanton had a reputation as an "innings eater" (which means "you suck, but at least you don't wear out.") He pitched adequately for them down the stretch, and helped them win the WS. The trade itself was good. The mistake was offering him arbitration, and then negotiating a 3-year $25M extension with him. That forced them to trade Lee (who was only due the same $9M that Blanton was in '10) and has handcuffed them for the future. It's all but been said out loud that the only reason he is out there is because they're paying him so much.
