Is that clever or funny at all? I'm old, so maybe I just don't get it.

Man I love watching Danny Espinosa play.

Danny is the real deal. I have a feeling we'll be watching him for many many years. If his average comes up he'll have a legit case for Rookie of the Year, as well as being our ASG representative. And personally I think he's got Gold Glove in the bag.

And I love watching Morse when he's hitting like this, good lord is he on fire.

Is that clever or funny at all? I'm old, so maybe I just don't get it.

And no, it's not really funny at all.

Ok, so someone has figured it out. Since 2010 opening day the Phillies have had, including tonight 16 total games that they put out a lineup that features their everyday position players. To be be where they are, especially having the best record last year is incredible!

Since depth apparently isn't an issue, why don't the Phillies try to trade and restock their farm system? Granted, I'm no Phils fan (or a GM), but the farm's not looking so great aside from Singleton.

Depth is a huge issue.

They have the best record (maybe not after the past couple of days) but it's really thanks to their pitching rather than anything else. The have next to no ability to handle a regular being out of the lineup, and they still haven't found an adequate replacement for Jayson Werth. They're not good right now - the lineup is way to lefty-heavy, they have no protection for Howard (though I'm curious how much that really affects how a guy gets pitched), Jimmie Rollins is a shell of the MVP he was a few years ago, and Utley is thisclose to being put down for the season (and if you look at his numbers, he's in a big decline - he beat up his body way too much at a young age and doesn't have a lot of good years left.)

This team has problems - big problems, and due to their trading for Lee, Halladay, and Oswalt, they don't have the farm system to address those problems. I don't think anyone in their right mind would re-do any of those trades, but this is where Ruben Amaro really needs to earn his money, because you can only lose so many 2-1 and 1-0 games before a staff just loses all moral.

Exactly. The window won't be open forever for this edition of the Phils. Their lineup isn't what it was three years ago, two years ago, or even last year, and the pitching can only do so much. They won't be able to keep at it forever. Athletes get older and produce less, it's just the way it is. They'll likely be staring at some albatross contracts in the next few seasons. They'll cruise to the postseason this year and probably at least next year as well, but nothing is so certain after that.

They definitely need some young infusion. Dominic Brown should help on the lineup-side of things if nothing else.

Not sure how bad the contract thing really is, because they have expensive dead weight rolling off every year. IF Brown develops, Vance Worley turns into a serviceable 5th (or 4th for when Oswalt is gone) starter, IF Michael Martinez can justify his rule 5 status and IF John Mayberry can just figure out how to be consistent, they would be more than fine. The problem is that it's not likely that more than one of those IFs will come to fruition.

For some reason, when one guy goes into a slump, the entire lineup goes down. I've never seen anything like it. They just don't have the ability to pick each other up. And as much as I hate to admit it, because despite how much he's frustrated me throughout his career (at the plate at least, never in the field), Jimmie Rollins is really the leader and heart and soul of this team, which makes it all the more difficult to make the tough decision to let him go. He's in the last year of his under-value contract, and Jose Reyes is a UFA after the season. I'm not alone in dreaming of him playing short stop for the '12 Phillies, but I just don't see them letting JRoll go.

Ryan Vogelsong has been absolutely dealing for the Giants since he got called up. 8 IP 4 H 1 ER (which as a solo HR on basically his only mistake pitch of the day) 1 BB and another win for him today, raising his season total to 4-1 on the year. If the Giants dump him for Barry Zito once he comes off the DL I swear to everything holy I'll become a Dodgers fan.

I think I hate Torii Hunter. I'm pretty sure the two i's in his name represent the number of outs the other teams gets when he's up.

I was at the game today, and his at bats are almost painful to watch at this point. Even more so when there are guys on base.

It almost seems with his recent struggles and his desire to get back on track/drive in runs/be a leader that he gets up there and tries too hard. His at bats start with him being patient and taking strike one. Then being aggressive by fouling strike two then either striking out or popping up, or in today's case grounding into a game-ending double play as the go-ahead run. <_<

But I will say, I am excited for the rest of the career of Mark Trumbo. Dude sends out some BOMBS.

This is what SunLife Stadium looked like at the top of the third.

This is why Marlins fans can't have nice things.

Wow that is pathetic, i hope they can start bringing in fans with the new ballpark...if not then theres really something wrong 2 world series in less than 20 years of existence and no attendance, if that was philly we'd need 2 ballparks to fit our fans lol but its obviously the weather and florida is mainly a tourist state.

The two World Series only kind of count as far as drawing fans. Those are the only two years they've made the post-season right? So it's not like they're contending every year.

Still, though, it's baseball and they're have fun teams to watch for a while now, they really should have a following. The stadium might do the trick. I hope it does.
