West First Round:

Spurs def. Grizzlies in 5

Thunder def. Nuggets in 6 (This will probably be the most exciting series of the 1st Round.)

Mavericks def. Blazers in 7 (The Lakers got real fortunate that they didn't draw Portland, and it isn't a Mavericks playoff run without the Mavs making it hard on themselves.)

Lakers def. Hornets in 5

East First Round:

Bulls def. Pacers in 5

Magic def. Hawks in 7 (Definitely gonna be a more competitive series this time around, but I just don't see Jason Collins being the guy to get the Hawks over the hump here.)

Celtics def. New York Knicks in 6 (KG is averaging 22 points a game vs. the Knicks this season. No, this isn't 2004.)

Heat def. 76ers. in 6 (This is gonna be more competitive than most people think. The Sixers have quietly become one of the most improved teams this season. Miami won't walk all over this team.)

West Semifinals

Spurs def. Thunder in 6

Lakers def. Mavericks in 7

East Semifinals

Bulls def. Magic in 6

Heat def. Celtics in 7

West Finals

Lakers def. Spurs in 6 (I've learned not to pick against the Lakers when it comes to Lakers/Spurs)

East Finals

Bulls def. Heat in 7 (If this series happens, it will probably be the best one in the entire playoffs.)

NBA Finals

Lakers def. Bulls in 5

I seriously can't see any result that's more likelier than the Lakers repeating again. The Spurs are gonna wear down eventually, the Mavs are perennial playoff disappointments, the Thunder aren't "there" just yet, & nobody else in the West would be a problem for them, other than Portland considering that they've always had problems with Portland. Then in the East, the Celtics are in the same boat as the Spurs, still not convinced that the Heat are the best team in the East (much less the entire league) the Magic as constructed aren't gonna go far, & the Bulls seem ready to make a title run, but they won't get it this year. So yeah, picked the Lakers to win the championship before the season & I'm sticking to it.

EDIT: For old time's sake, here's my predictions from the preseason. I feel stupid as hell for not even picking the Spurs to make the playoffs. The hell was I thinking?!

Just to introduce this to the discussion, I think the Lakers would beat the Bulls because the Lakers have better basketball players than the Bulls do. Sounds self-evident, I know, but too many people are going with this odd sort of "the Bulls aren't ready for the big stage and won't know what to do" narrative, as if the hoops are placed on turntables for the Finals or something.
