This week's greatest game of all-time was a bit of a snoozefest. Alabama really has no one to blame but themselves. Both teams have very impressive defensive units. After what I saw tonight, I just don't see an offense out there that I believe can score enough points on LSU to beat them.

Even with a month to prepare? I hate to say it, but Arkansas has a shot even in Baton Rouge on a short week. They have a QB who the coach trusts to make plays.

Both LSU and Alabama had a week off before tonight and we got that from both offenses.

Saban gave more for McElroy to do in his first season than he gives to McCarron. Granted, McElroy had Julio Jones to throw to, but if you are an "oversigning" king (along with LSU), you should have talent to even replace Julio.

With a close final of 9-6, what do all of you think about the possibility of an LSU/Alabama NCG provided both teams win out?

Absolutely possible now, and no reason there shouldn't be if they finish out winners. ESPN advertised that game like crazy and it lived up to its hype.

No offense, but only a hardcore SEC fan would believe that game lived up to the hype. It was a close game. We got to see two great defenses knock hell out of each other and that was about it. To live up to all the hype, it needed to be an entertaining game. It was not.

With regard to a rematch, are you saying that Alabama should get a shot over Oklahoma State, Stanford, or even Boise State if they all go undefeated?

What's really sad is that ESPN is going to brand it as a "classic" and a "tough defensive battle" while ignoring the inept quarterback play, penalties, ugly special teams play (especially for Bama), bad playcalling, and general lack of discipline.

If we have to sit through another four quarters of this boring garbage in the title game, then there's literally no point to any other conferences playing any games, because the SEC bias will have reached an absurd level.

That game did not live up to hype. I was promised the "Game of the century". I didn't even see the best game of the day.

We don't need a rematch because we already know who's better in this matchup. It's LSU. They won at Alabama. Without a playoff the regular season is our playoff and Alabama was eliminated today. At least, that's how people should look at it.

and for the record, I was vehemently against a rematch of OSU-Michigan in 2006 for the same reason so this isn't some anti-SEC bias.

Unfortunately, for those of us rooting against a rematch, a low scoring overtime outcome was probably the worst thing that could've happened.

I love the Broncos (as well as any non-BCS underdog/party-crasher) as much as anyone, but we both know that is not going to happen.

Only way a rematch should/could happen is if everybody in the title race loses (except for LSU. If LSU loses, all hell will have broken loose then.) and Alabama wins out. "Ugly" game or not, they took the #1 team in the nation to OT and lost by 3. I'm not a fan of a rematches in college football, but that's the only scenario in which I'd be in favor of a rematch. Hell, Les Miles was able to politic his way into a National Champonship game in 2007 using the "We never lost in regulation" argument, maybe Saban could do the same.

A couple of weeks after getting humiliated by Arizona, UCLA stuns ASU and they control their own destiny in the Pac-12 South.

Utah's gonna crash their party.

Yeah, I'd say UCLA has the tougher go. UCLA finishes at Utah, vs Colorado, at USC. USC/Utah are going to be tough for UCLA. ASU finishes at Wazzu, vs Arizona, vs Cal. ASU should be Wazzu, UA always plays ASU tough but they're still bad, and Cal will be a more interesting game. The Pac-12 South has a long way to go still.

Yeah, this PAC conference is so tough to figure. What a roller coaster ride.

Cal destroys Utah,Gets hammered at UCLA, then destroys Wazzoo.

All I'm gonna say is thank you Bama. Because of your Jose Cortez like kicker, I just won my parlay card.

:notfantasyfootballtalk:

EDIT: and of course, im not the first one to drop obscure s****y kicker references. Good going, CCSLC :P

Next weeks Stanford-Oregon game should be quite the opposite of LSU-Alabama. 48-45 shoot out I would expect.

Stanford is losing bodies like a 7 year old child loses teeth. Owuso spent time on the turf for the second time in two seasons; his 3rd concussion in 13 months. TEs Tollolo and Ertz are injured too.

Their defense has lost many starters too. To their credit the have not had any losses to their starting OL.

While it easy to blame the kickers of Alabama, remember that Alabama went 4-13 on 3rd Down conversions. Saban put McCarron in a position not to be able to make a play.

Under further review, look at the 3rd downs which they kicked from.

1st miss:

3rd-7, LSU27 13:35 A. McCarron passed to T. Richardson to the right for no gain 4th-7, LSU27 13:00 C. Foster missed a 44-yard field goal

2nd miss:

1st-10, LSU23 4:40 Alabama committed 5 yard penalty 1st-15, LSU28 4:30 E. Lacy rushed to the right for 1 yard gain 2nd-14, LSU27 4:05 E. Lacy rushed to the left for 6 yard loss 3rd-20, LSU33 3:15 A. McCarron incomplete pass to the right 4th-20, LSU33 2:24 C. Foster missed a 50-yard field goal

3rd miss:

1st-10, LSU24 15:00 M. Maze rushed to the right for 6 yard loss 2nd-16, LSU30 14:30 A. McCarron sacked by S. Montgomery 3rd-17, LSU31 13:50 A. McCarron incomplete pass to the right 4th-17, LSU31 13:05 LSU blocked 49-yard field goal attempt by J. Shelley. E. Reid returned for 26 yards

OT miss, we all saw the 1st down penalty and 3rd down sack.
