Puma's kits (in Europe) tend to be pretty plain...but I think that works with the Arsenal aesthetic.

Agreed. If you asked me a month ago Puma or Adidas I would have quickly chosen Puma. However given how much I hate Dortmund's new kit (Puma) and how good Adidas did with the new Chelsea kit (kept is simple and classy), I'm a little worried.

Beat me to it...hope Arsenal fans are ready for boring, generic template kits.

Puma never gave Spurs just template kits, certainly when they were challenging for top 4 spots. I think its a good thing for a top of the table team to not be with one of Nike and Adidas, who seem to be dominating club football across Europe. Lower down the tables both Nike and Adidas are as likely to use templates as puma is. Compare stoke, Sunderland and West Brom!

Weren't spurs last kits a stock Puma template with the shoulder stripes??

I'm pretty sure there were plenty of other clubs using that template.

I liked that template though, worked for them.

Pretty much every (if not all) Puma shirt for Tottenham was a widely used template. Here are just two examples but there are absolutely loads.

But only after Spurs had finished with that template. (Possibly apart from change kits). I think Arsenal and Puma is a decent enough match, and it will make a difference from Adidas and Nike dominating.

Just as an example of the dangers of that, next season it's possible that a quarter of the premier league will have stripes on the same Adidas template. It's hotly rumoured on the south coast that Southampton will sign with Adidas, then you would have potentially, Stoke, Sunderland, West Brom, along with Southampton and promoted Hull (who are due to play in stripes next season) in Adidas striped kits. From a design point of view, that can't be good for the league.

that "bib" is so awful. :(

Actually on that third kit I think it works fine. I think if it was a dark shirt and light bib it would be worse, but dark on white seems ok to me.

I actually think the bib works in this case. Adidas uses this same template for the Portland Timbers, but in that case the bib looks weird because it's not in a different color.

See inside the spolier for a bunch of kits using the template used on the Tottenham 10/11 shirt. All of these were used in the same season (so not after)

My point being, you can almost bet your mortgage on Arsenal's 13/14 shirts being a puma template and not a special design for them. Especially given how late it has been announced compared to usual.

The Arsenal and Puma partnership begins in 2014/2015 actually. Nike still has Arsenal next year.
