Glover Quin is a Lion now, too. Liking how this day is shaping up. Probably means Delmas is gone, but I'm okay with him leaving -- dude was a walking injury. Decent safety, but it's hard to depend on a player who is out with a "hurty foot" every other week. Hope we can bag another safety at a discount.

And they still need to address that subpar offensive line.

Agreed. They will probably go lineman with their first pick.

What they really should've done is traded for Boldin back and convinced Warner to come out of retirement to relive AZ's glory days. (Though Kurt would be in hospital pretty quickly behind that O-line).

Looking good. I can live with Delmas leaving as well. I think the Lions' staff makes him seem like he is a franchise player at times. Bush is just a tremendous signing. With all the 6-man box looks teams gave the Lions last year, Reggie could excel.

Now they could be set up to take Milliner in the first round, then snag Matt Elam in the second to round off a pretty nice secondary.

I know I won't be the only one snickering if Tom Brady's massive pay cut results in none of the big name FA's going to New England, or even keeping Welker in tow.

But there's still a ways to go, so best not to get too eager about the possibility.

Hey, there's always Danny Amendola! ;)

Bucs ink All-Pro Free Safety Dashon Goldson.

I'll be right along snickering too (long history with NE), but really, if Welker does go through with this, Denver would be real dangerous.

Remember the last time a free agent left New England under Bill Belichick and they regretted it? Yeah, me neither. Anyway, sucks to see Wes Welker go. He'll be great for Peyton Manning - until the playoffs start.

EDIT: It's official. Wes Welker signs with the Denver Broncos for a reported 2 years and $12 million. Per NESN.com.

"Sources" say Wes Welker to the Broncos is THIS close to happening.

Manning to Welker. Never thought I'd see the day.

Wow. So the NFL's powers are shifting westward. The Seattle/San Fran chess move earlier this week, and now Wes in Denver. Hopefully, the Northeast Corridor's (BAL, WSH, PHI, PIT, both NY teams and NE) stranglehold on the NFL can come to an end.

Goldson and Barron both filling the back of the Tampa secondary? I like the sound of that. And Tampa is gonna need two great safetys with their horrible LB and CBs. I'd live to see us make an even bigger splash and end up with Revis, but I doubt it'll happen.

As Brass said, the Patriots give up on a player a season early rather than a season too late.

The two year contract illustrates Elway knows the Broncos are an old team and is built to win now before Manning's fourth year is guaranteed on the last day of the 2014 league year (February or March 2015).

Classic Patriots. Lawyer Milloy, Ty Law, Asante Samuel, Richard Seymour etc. all prove my point.

(Asante Samuel and Richard Seymour may have done big things with their respective teams after their time with the Patriots, but I hadn't heard their names at all since they left the Patriots.)

They weren't "giving up on him"... the Broncos got him at 2 years $12 million and the Patriots offered him 2 years $10 million with incentives. The Patriots wanted him back.

Would Welker be a good fit for any team? Not likely. But he's a perfect fit for the system that Peyton Manning runs in Denver, and that trio of WR's is going to be damn difficult to defend.

I was partial to the idea of the Bucs signing Brent Grimes, if for no other reason than because that would mean he couldn't pick off Josh Freeman in 2013.

Grimes is still out there, for now. The report that he signed was apparently premature.
