2013 NFL New Era

Last year, didn't someone from New Era explain there are rules to how the NFL allows the logos to be shown on the hats? It was something like, "If generic wordmarks are used on the hats, then the official logo HAS to be on the hat in some way". Which is why all those hats with the official logos in the shadow print or sublimation on the side of the hat existed. It doesn't explain why they don't just use the offical wordmark & logo, but it does point to the goofy rules the NFL has regarding merchandising.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

They already have leave to use the team logos, why not just use the damned wordmarks? It takes just as much time or more to c/p/arch this font.

I understand, money money money monoe moeny nney nimoney money. But give me a break. Lazy bunch of jagoffs. Make a decent hat. This was supposed to be a monumental improvement over Reebok, but at least reebok was willing to try new things, even if it meant looking like buffoons.

They're not being lazy at all! It's exactly because of the reason that phutmasterflex said. If they used the official scripts, what would they sell the next year? If you want to buy a hat with the official scripts, GUESS WHAT?! They sell them!

These hats are awful. Definitely being marketed to the under 25 crowd. Hell, to the under 20 crowd. These are gawdy.

Well yeah that's mostly there target market....I get the impression based on designs that the 39thirty is intended for the older crowd

Dolphins in the bottom right corner too. Both logos look unchanged, but likely just used the old stuff until the team decides to release everything.

Yep. Last year New Era gave a preview of their hats around the Pro Bowl or sometime in February. It included a Panthers cap with the old logo, even though we all knew it was changing somewhat.

I'd guess the Vikings hat won't need to change anyway. They'll go with the gray facemask and the boring 1980s jerseys but the logo will probably remain unchanged.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

I'm 22 and I would never put one of these on my head. Definitely right with saying it's being marketed to the 20 and under crowd.

I like those hats. Even the city name on the underbrim is pretty cool... reminds me of Mars Blackmon.

I'm not understanding the outrage here. Why would the team wordmarks be used when it's a generic league-wide template? The point is that they're all supposed to look the same other than the logos and colors, hence the block font. Using the various team wordmarks would ruin the effect.

Have you ever looked at teams wordmarks? They all vary in shape/height/length. In recent years you may have noticed that teams are starting to follow a similar trend, i.e.-Falcons/Cardinals/Texans....etc. These marks are more consistent and lend themselves better for template style graphics(and don't kid yourself, that's what these are) but on the other hand now most teams wordmarks are looking similar. Wordmarks are just tough to work with and especially on a hat with limited real estate.

I'm 20 and I wouldn't touch one of these either. I'm a 47brand guy. but I know plenty of people who will think these are "sick" and then wear them with the stickers on the bill like idiots.

I really don't see how these are seen as so downright awful. They're not great, but they're miles better than last years draft caps.
