I would love to see Mike Rice explain this to recruits. That university needs to fire everyone involved just for sake of being competitive, because no one is going to want to play for that raving lunatic.

Well Mike Rice has finally been dismissed from Rutgers. Don't think Tim Pernetti is going to be far behind him and Robert Barchi the school's President may not be either. You have people in power who just flat out PO'd over this, probably most notably Governor Christie.

Rick Pitino's son Richard will be the next coach at Minnesota. He's only 30 and has one year of D1 head coaching experience. Not exactly the resume you'd expect for a Big Ten coach.

Then again he worked under Rick Pitino and Billy Donovan so he has learned from the greats. I wish Richard well in Minnesota and he might be a great choice for them.

Pitino had the luxury of having Isiah Thomas' for his one year at FIU. Isiah was never a good coach, but he has always had an eye for talent since he was getting top 100 recruits.

History shows you cannot win at Minnesota unless you cheat (see Clem Haskins).

The facilities are average or below but most of all, Minnesota HS players don't want to play there regardless of coach.

Just look at the list of Minnesota Mr. Basketball winners and see that they only get the guy half the time.

FIU had a 18-14 record in the Sun Belt, with Richard Pitino and the Thomas recruits. Not saying he won't be a good coach. Just that his only season at FIU was very medicore.

They were 8-21 the year before that. 18-14 is a noticeable improvement.

I've seen coaches fired for far less so I wasn't surprised to hear about Rice. But there's no reason the Rutgers AD deserved to lose his job.

I'm not approving of Rice's coaching style, but did the players not choose to play for him? Nobody was forcing them to go to Rutgers, right?

The AD had to go because he failed to realize the potential impact of the videos becoming public. The school president had to either ask him to resign or fire him, otherwise governor Chris Christie (who is probably going to run for President) was going to. Keep in mind that Rutgers is the same public university who in the last 30 months is still dealing with the aftermath from the suicide of student Tyler Clementi.

Rice was first suspended by Pernetti as a result of the same videos which went public earlier this week. It is going to come out that there was not "investigation" since few players have stated that they were interviewed. In higher education, there is a standard of care term of In loco parentis (in place of a parent) and Pernetti's actions failed that standard.

Also, did the AD fire the assistant that seemingly lost his job for whistle-blowing? It seems that way and that's reason enough he deserves to be canned.

Soooo... Where does Gregg Marshall wind up?

What high-profile jobs are even available?? (No. NOT Rutgers.)

I think he stays at Wichita State. Unless he wants to go to Rutgers to get to the Big Ten. But if that was the case, I think Minnesota would have waited for him. I think all the high major jobs besides Rutgers are filled right now.

Wichita State doesn't have a football team. That means the Shockers have a lot of cash to throw at him.

"Since the season ended we have talked a lot about Marshall taking a greater leadership role with our team," Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy said.
