According to SLCdunk.com, the mountains will not be in the final version.

Makes sense...if they are named the JAZZ either embrace the musical motif or change your name. If you want a mountain/outdoor theme change your name to Bobcats or Hornets. Make up your damn minds already.

Jazz has everything to do with Utah in that they play a "Jazzy style of basketball." That was a direct quote from the team when I was designing for them.

It's a nice upgrade, but I'll have to see gameday footage to fully judge the mountains on the court.

The Pacers' new scoreboards are still bigger overall, and better resolution (1080p on all 4 sides).

I'm disappointed that Daktronics didn't get the Jazz account, but I'm a little biased because Daktronics is a client of mine. I was out at their HQ in Brookings, SD a month ago...amazing setup they've got there...all that technology in a little college town in the middle of nowhere.

For reference, the scoreboards at Toyota Center in Houston are the largest in the NBA (21-feet-by-50-feet screens facing the sidelines and 25-feet-by-14-feet screens facing the baselines).

I am constantly amazed at how the Jazz have been able to get away with upgrading an existing arena without the NBA demanding a complete new one.

I too would have loved to have seen the mountains in the court as long as it didn't provoke other teams to do other out of control designs. My question is this: Why even show the mountains if they're not a part of the design?

...and so it begins.

Always delighted to bust out this pic.

Yeah now they're "just putting lipstick on a pig." Not to mention the scoreboard isn't anything impressive in todays age.

LOL, that's a ridiculous quote, considering nobody can define what a "jazzy style" is when it relates to basketball. Even if they honestly believe that nonsense, when they interview coaches, is being able to implement a "jazzy style that upholds the ideals and values of the club" a requirement?

Damn that sucks the mountains were beautiful. I want courts to have personality again, like the Rockets in the late 90's the Suns in the 90's the Vancouver Grizzlies.

That explanation gave me a good laugh this morning. I'd be more accepting of the the Jazz-mountain tie in as, "A great representation of the Annual Wastach Mountain-Jazz Festival held every September". Now that would be some thematic synergy.

Come to think of it though, your rationale really does make some good sense. Another great example: the Lakers style of basketball and team energy this past season was as flat as a lake in the early morning.

Boo.

I grew up in the 90's playing NBA Live 98 for hours on end. That game included beauties like this

The era of minimalist court design has been dark times in the kingdom.

The first rockets court was even better with the space theme in the three point area looked so awesome on nba live just wish their uniforms matched the awesome floor

720p isn't bad resolution...but you'd think in 2013 a professional team would have four large 1080p scoreboards.

I thought so as well...the Fieldhouse and Toyota Center have 1080p on all four sides.

Then again, UltraHD is coming...
