Close, but clip art soccer ball looks stuck on like an afterthought. As if someone high up saw it at the last minute and said, "hey, we're a soccer team we have to have a soccer ball on our crest." The Tottenham logo has the ball nicely incorporated into the overall design, this does not.

Simply removing the ball and line graphic and expanding the "impact" pattern would make it a very nice design. Too bad.

Kits aside, the crest is underwhelming for me. Granted their existing was bad so it is an improvement in that sense...maybe it will grow on me in time but I can't get over how distracting it is.

I really like the "Impact pattern" even if it isn't completely original (chevrons in use already), but that's about it. The color scheme is interesting to me, and I don't hate the way they use just a tiny bit of red and then have a red kit. The majority of the logo could be a lot better though.

Here's what the full kits look like. After 9 years the Quakes are finally back in the blue jersey, black short combo that they won their two championships wearing. And the away kit is obviously an allusion to the old 1974 kits. Overall this is a great upgrade for them.

My only complaint is using the shortened name on the crest. But from their other marketing stuff it seems apparent the full name is still San Jose Earthquakes absent any annoying FC's or SC's.

Hmm. I actually like it a lot more than I expected I would. The red kit annoys me, but I like that the home kit isn't a drastic change from what they've been wearing in the current Earthquakes era.

I don't like these as much as I thought I would. I love the offset chevrons. I love the new wordmark. I love the red clash kit. It's just not coming together as well as I think it could have. The crest is the biggest offender. The offset chevrons/impact pattern looked great in the promotional material, but they loose something when you confine it to a badge. A crest that was just the chevrons would have been interesting, I think. I also don't like how the crest on the red clash kits use the blue and black chevrons. They should have used red/white and embraced the idea of a differently schemed clash kit like Portland has.

The crest has other issues too. I don't mind the idea of the ball being part of the crest, but it looks tacked on. Everything else is very flat and bold, and the ball's shading/rendering makes it seem like it came from some place else. The decision to go with "QUAKES" over "EARTHQUAKES" also bugs me.

All in all it's an improvement. It just didn't come together like I was expecting.

I like the new primary uniform and font, the rest not so much.

Good ideas, not so well pulled off in the final product.

The logo seems unbalanced and empty at the left bottom side at first glance.

The wordmark that appeared before the logo itself with EarthQuakes was actually ok, just having the "San Jose Quakes" seems off.

The white line left and red line right of SJ bothers me, should have been in one color or left off alltogether, instead could have made the axis red instead, nodding to the past.

The bottom left aka pacific could have been blue making it look less empty, with the coast line/axis red and still have some kind of fault lines on the right

Shortening the name to Quakes doesn't really bother me that much. This is no different than the NBA's New York Knickerbockers using the name Knicks in all their merchandise, or the AL's Chicago White Sox just using the name Sox. That said, I was hoping the new crest would have more red.
