For a team that's 2.5 games out of the playoffs, this is a steal. You now have two guys that going to give your team at least 40 points night in and night out. New Orleans may not get in this year, but I'll be damned if they don't get in 2017-2018.

Cousins ain't re-signing with N.O.

Such a horrid trade.

Maybe, just maybe, the Kings should've moved to Seattle in 2013 when they had the chance, because the Ranadive ownership has been nothing but pyritic. OK, I'm only kinda joking here, but it's been awful. My heart goes out to Sacramento.

Had they moved to Seattle we would have had an arena by now.

On the bad side, Phil Jackson would have been the GM and could have nuked Seattle basketball part 2 before it had a chance to get going.

Ooh. I forgot about that bit. That's definitely being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

This is exactly why even though I live in Sacramento and consider it my home town, I'm not a Kings fan. What a MORONIC trade. God this team is so :censored:ing dumb.

You can tell he's so damn relieved to be out of the giant mess we have here. I think anyone would be at this point. Divac and Cherry Picker are probably a combination that makes Trent Baalke and Idiot Jed York look appealing.

I wish him him the best of luck and I really think he's gonna thrive the way Isiah Thomas did once he got away from the toxic Kings. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the drama goes away as well because I'm convinced a big part of it stemmed from having to deal with the morons he's had to deal with in Sacramento.

Damn. I still can't believe the Kings got out from under the clutches of the Maloofs and it ended up somehow getting even worse. Like I've said more than once here. Give em to Seattle.

Except the fanbase should lose the management.

Oh yeah, according to Windhorst, because of the new CBA rules as it relates to players' contract extensions, Cousins is no longer eligible to receive the max deal of $209 million/five years.  Now, even from New Orleans, the most he could get is $180 million/five years.

The Kings cost Cousins almost $30 million? No one should ever go there. Ever again.

EDIT: Buddy Hield doesn't seem reasonably better than Nik Stauskas, though he did have a more storied college career. The Kings could have had Stauskas and Cousins, but they wouldn't have New Orleans' mid-round draft pick next year. And, to that end, the Kings have drafted Ben McLemore, Stauskus, WIllie Caulie-Stein, and Papagiannis with mid-round picks over the last few years and, with the except of some cool Caulie-Stein blocks, none of those guys have done much of anything. Point being, some franchises shouldn't trade for draft picks if they've proved they don't know what to do with them.

Fascinating to watch the very moment when a player finds out that he's been traded, but wouldn't a better move have been to pull him out of the media scrum to tell him that instead of whispering in his ear while they all watched? I thought that was an odd way to handle that.

My phone autocorrected Fields to Girls but I don't care.

The Kings need to be protected from themselves. Well, not really, but the amount of effort the league put into keeping the Kings in Sacramento (and installing Vivek) is embarrassing in hindsight. I think it was a Stern deal, which would make sense given how close he was to destroying the league (not really, but kind of) on his way out.

People complain about the sponsorship stuff, but Silver has done a much, much better job as steward of the league.

And at his presser just now Divac admitted he had a better deal two days ago.  Who the hell admits that?  This is what happens when you have no clue what you're doing and surround yourself with yes men.  Oh they waived Matt Barnes too (this I don't really have an issue with.)

It's Buddy Hield, not Fields, anyway.

Hmm. Not sure how I like this trade from a Pels fan standpoint.

Every one on national and local sports media seems to think it's great; that we now basically have "twin towers", and speculating that if during the second half of the season we move up from the current 2.5 games back and get the 8th seed (which seems to be now generally conceded), we can really cause fits against Golden State in the 1st round with our two big men. Plus, with a PROTECTED first round pick being part of the deal, if everything falls flat and we don't make the playoffs and are in the lottery; if the Pels get the 1, 2, or 3 pick they get to keep it.   And most of the 1st round will be freshman and a few foreigners, all of which will need time to temper and progress.

I hear Tyreke Evans will be bought out and Langston Galloway will be cut, and while the Kings also get a 2nd round pick that draftee is unlikely to make the team.  So the basic deal is Cousins (all-star) and Omri Casspi for Hield (#6 lottery pick rookie) and a #4 or later 1st round pick in the off-season.

But there are two things:

1) I do not trust Alvin Gentry's coaching abilities. Monty Williams was bad enough, but we took a step back in hiring Gentry. Gentry is also a run-'n-gun, small line-up, fast offense oriented coach.  Not sure he will be able to make the transition to a two big man oriented team.

2) No guarantees that Cousins will re-sign and stay longer than the one more season on his contract.  This could be a rent-an All-star situation.  Of course, a future of playing with Anthony Davis a couple of hours from his hometown of Mobile, AL may be tempting, but who knows.

Pelicans will also have to re-sign Jrue Holiday, who finally seems to be past all his injuries and family issues, and playing well. If Cousins stays, Jrue stays, and everybody stays healthy -- look out for next few year in New Orleans.

It is what it is.

Kings get Tyreke back and Buddy Hield who ironically grabbed Cousins' nuts last week.

Sometimes you really need to set a modifier off with commas. I'm imagining this guy giving Boogie the ol' how's-your-father while saying "this is extremely me, sorry sorry i'm trying to remove it"

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
