my god! that is why I never saw the Tim Burton version. talk about creepy...

as a huge Marlins fan, I'm getting to the point where I've seen thing thing enough that it doesn't make me furious anymore, it just makes me laugh. wouldn't mind a meltdown, though.

Can we take bets on how long it will take for the home run feature to get stuck in the up position or half way up?

I hope they have a shut off switch so the lights don't keep blinking in the event it does get stuck in the up position, that would be such a distraction to hitters. Lol.

Hopefully the feature doesn't end up like the teal wall did. Fully operational & then due to budget cuts had ads placed over it. I wonder if in a few years, they'll just leave it up & light it when their is a home run or something.

I'm thinking the whole thing should go like this:

...complete with the Raiders of the Lost Ark meltdown in the end.

I hope that happens in the first homerun hit at the new park...in fact I think it should get a standing ovation.

Yay a homerun, yay a homerun, now it's time to round the bases.

it's paid for by a grant given to the Marlins by Miami Dade County for an "art in public places" thing. ads aren't going to covering it up, unfortunately.

My kids and I have watched the movie dozens of times. I try to skip that scene. The only words I have are, "Tim Burton ain't right."

Everyone loves a roundel.

That's actually my favorite scene in the whole movie. Hysterical.

If you've ever read the book - Tim Burton's vision was a lot closer to the source material than the '70s Gene Wilder version. Although as a whole - the '70s version was a better movie.

It will be up all the time. Judging by the the structure going up that you can see on the webcam it does not look like it even has room to move all the way down into the "tank". It looks like it's in there pretty solid:

It'll light up and start moving, aka get even tackier, when someone hits a home run.

The true benefit of the retractable roof, as opposed to a fixed dome, in this case will be the ability to air lift in the construction equipment the next owner will need to tear this crap out.

I hope the next owners last name is Veeck. That way we could have "Monument Demolition Night".

Oh, ok I didn't think you knew because of when you joined the CCSLC, welcome btw. From what I've heard you are correct black and orange, with the blue and silver being pretty prominent.

Showtime?

You rang?

I was asking if my last sentence was correct, on the usage of colors.

Also I asked earlier but what alternate jerseys are in the Rockies style guide?

Denver Nuggets Kansas City Chiefs Tampa Bay Rays

Colorado Buffaloes Purdue Boilermakers Florida Gators

It's kind of sad. First the ridiculous new logo, then this ridiculous "art". It's like they are trying to be a laughing stock.

You know, say what you will about America. Thirteen bucks still gets you a hell of a load of mice.

At least Miami FC(now the Strikers) and Panthers wised up this year and went back to tradition. The Strikers rebrand obviously has worked with 4X bigger crowds and improved results on the field.

And the Cats have gone back to red sweaters at home and replaced the green seats in the lower bowl of the BAC with red ones.

Marlins fans have had to put up with being ridiculed for almost the entire existence of the team thanks to various crappy ownership groups and a terrible stadium. Now, when the long coveted new ballpark and all the hope it brings finally arrives, we get this crap.

Soccer and hockey finally start back in the right direction, but the Heat are locked out, the Dolphins suck and the Marlins wreck one of the classiest looks in baseball. Can't ever seem to get things firing on all cylinders in this town.
