  1. Yeah same. I signed up figuring I was "overpaying" for May and I'm fine with that. No need for refund, but good on ya for figuring that out though.
  2. My friends and I go to a lot of baseball games after work, but I don't think we would if we couldn't (2 of us) take the subway straight down, (1 of us) walk an easy 2-mile walk), (1 of us) take the subway with a connection but still get from the NoLibs to stadiums in 20 mins. If I had to drive at all, even if it was relatively convenient, I'd go to far fewer games (if any at all), because I don't like having even one weak-ass beer and driving, let alone dealing with traffic. If it was a PiTA, there's no way I'd go to a game - probably even a WS game. I think the stadium location and logistical issues are certainly completely valid points to be made about why it's failed, but there's not any evidence that shows that investing in a new park would pay dividends. In conclusion, get rid of your cars.
  3. Then baseball can't succeed in the region until they put a stadium in a different location and embrace and pay for mass transit options to get people to-and-from games (and have the fans buy in to the mass-transit option). Being a major-league city is hard. It requires more than simply having population and a stadium. It might require a mind shift from the locals too. I think it's pretty safe to say that Floridians aren't willing to invest in "better for all" projects, so baseball just shouldn't be there.
  4. What is with the blackout around your words?
  5. When a team is in the actual world series and nobody locally comes, that's not the ballpark's fault. Even given all of it's legit faults, it's still the world series. For a lot of sports fans, attending a WS is a once-in-a-lifetime event, but they didn't care.
  6. If anything, if a team is looking to leave, I'd be less likely to commit my time and $ to them. I'll never forget the 2008 WS - it was cheaper to get tickets in Tampa and fly there than it was to go to a game here. I totally get that the market never got a fair chance due to the stadium deal - I'm not going to expect anyone to drive to a horribly-located dump on a work night just to sit through 4 hours of pitching changes and mound huddles. The thing is, none of the other metrics seem to make the case that the experiment would succeed even with a better / more convenient park. Certainly not enough to warrant a $2b public investment. The Florida MLB experiment has been a complete and total failure, and the sooner they can start undoing the Tampa part of it, the sooner they can start recouping some of the losses.
  7. I was on the phone with someone from my health insurance company and they were helping me find a provider. She said "this one is 5 miles away" and I was like "LOL lady, I'm not trying to take a train or fly to the dr... find something closer." Totally different culture when it comes to driving.
  8. Gretzky is the studio guy? I haven’t watched much nhl in the past decade, but 8 would have expected someone a little younger.
  9. How did this post get 5 likes? Let's start: 1. Don't assume that there's much crossover between NHL and NFL fans. There's plenty of NFL fans that are barely aware of the NHL's existence. There may be some people who have to decide whether to spend their money on one vs the other, but there's plenty for whom there's no decision to be made because it's NFL or nothing. 2. "the city has a stronger connection to them then the Raiders, who from what I've seen haven't had the locals enthusiastic at all." LOL, what are you talking about "from what I've seen"? What have you seen? In what way do you have your finger on the pulse of the Las Vegas community? If you're going by 2020 attendance, then Ice Cap already covered it. 3. The locals don't even matter that much for an NFL team's success. Come 2022, worst case, the stadium will be filled with visiting fans, and the Raiders will still sell gear to some local fans as well as California fans and people who just like the brand. 4. A "history of bouncing from city to city"? 22 years in Oakland, 13 in LA, 25 in Oakland. I guess 13 years in LA counts as a "bounce" in sports terms, but it's not obscene. And they were in crap stadiums in both cities, and their moves were driven by the need for stadium improvements... which they no longer have any need for in the foreseeable future. There's zero chance of the team "bouncing" in fewer than the 13 years they were in Oakland, and if not for what Ice Cap said about the OITGDNHL way that league protects non-traditional markets, I'd bet my house that the Raiders outlast anyone else there.
  10. Do the Mets have the HOF qualifier that the Phillies had (and kindasorta do have)? Looks like other than Gil Hodges, the others have achieved that status. Could also be the drug issues they each (especially Doc) had.
  11. What’s up with the MLB threads? Looks like the SiG one was merged with the Logos one, then unmerged, now the logos one is locked? Should a new logos one be started?
  12. Had Curt Schilling made the HOF, Phillies might have retired it since he spent a big portion of his career here and broke out. I think he deserves the HOF... but at the same time, I’m glad he’s not in.
  13. One thing I've noticed is that with the new fonts, italics don't really stand out like they're supposed to - at least on my screen. There's been a couple times I've looked at a post and thought something looked odd, and then upon further inspection noticed that a word was italicized but didn't really look that way - at least not the way I'm used to.
  14. The Expos didn't exactly have Browns-level of support prior to being sold to MLB and eventually moving. I know there's a lot behind the eventual failure of the Expos that goes beyond fan support, but this doesn't strike me as one of those situations where it has to be the original name if a team comes back.
  15. Who else used the rounded nameplates like that? I'm sure someone did.
  16. "dark mode app"? Didn't know there was apps for this. I haven't paid attention to the user names to see if it's always the same person, but I that would make sense.
  17. Wasn't there an actual "edit" button before, instead of it being in the menu? Or am I thinking of a different forum? If it's available, an actual button for editing would be nice rather than it being in the "..." menu, but not a huge deal.
  18. Also for some reason, some quoted posts appear as blue text on a black background. It's the embedded quote that gets color flipped, not the original post that's quoted. If I try to quote the post with the funky quote, it corrects it, so I can't post an example here. The most recent example is this one: EDIT: click on the first "NBA Changes 2020/21" and it'll take you to the post in question.
  19. Just noticed that the issue (on desktop) where you get signed out for no reason and get the error message when signing back in is still present in this version. Workaround is to click the banner and it seems to auto-sign back in.
  20. What do the little badges on some members’ avatars mean? For example, Die Perske and LMU have them. Doesn’t seem to be tied to any particular user group that I can tell.
  21. Dallas would never have left the NYG, WFT, and PHI, so Pittsburgh would be in some other division. When the merger happened, did the AFL teams keep their rosters and literally merge? Or was it more like the NFL granting expansion teams to certain AFL owners in their teams' cities?
  22. People can keep reporting things, or Chris could make an ad arrangement that's less disrespectful to the loyal users that have helped build his empire.
  23. I've only spent limited time in SF, but I can't really imagine tons of people from the west side of the bridge trying to drive to Alameda county to see the A's. It would be one thing if there was good mass transit to get there, but I suspect that the geography of the bay kinda naturally creates two markets within one.
