"One-year deals for Diamond Sports to continue broadcasting the Cleveland Guardians, Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers became official Friday morning, when Judge Chris Lopez approved the contracts in bankruptcy court.

The approvals mean fans of those teams can watch TV broadcasts in 2024 as they did before, via Diamond’s Bally-branded regional sports networks. At the same time, the deals do not provide any new in-market streaming option for fans who have had trouble watching games".

People celebrating the 4th? 5th? death of Deadspin as if it's a grand act of justice and not just private-equity doing its usual work.

I don't really understand what value the brand held at this point. Surely anyone who liked Deadspin for Deadspin followed the staff to Defector and that was what, three years ago? Who's even been reading the thing?

Julie DiCaro needed her comeuppance wherever it came from.

the guy who wrote the article about the Chiefs kid will probably claim racism for his firing.  It seems like he would do that based on other articles he's done for the site.

It's looking like Rogers is considering selling off part of their Canadian NHL broadcasting rights to Amazon. The report is that Monday night national games will be moved to Prime up here for the next couple of years before Rogers's contract is up. Amazon already had plans in place for a documentary series next year following a select group of players, so it isn't a huge surprise, but it looks like the beginning of the end of the sports media Bell/Rogers duopoly up here.

NFL Network made a few roster cuts today. Siciliano is a pro, will easily find other work (would be an instant upgrade to Prime or NBC's pregame shows). There are like 3 dudes on there who look like and bring the exact same thing to NFLN as James Palmer did.  So his pink slip's not really a shocker.

I wasn't even aware Melissa Stark was there. I obviously don't watch NFL Network enough, though. IT only came back to DirecTV Streaming before the start of the season.

And Kyle Brandt (maybe a few others) may or may not be in Good Morning Football when the show comes on the air in Los Angeles this fall so there may be more

Brandt does stuff for Omaha Productions and has appeared on ESPN because of it, so he may do that.

Brandt hated uprooting from SoCal for NY when he left the Jim Rome Show to join up with NFLN. He'll definitely be with NFLN when they relocate his show to LA, 100%.
