The Love/Kyrie combo SHOULD have been better for LeBron. Both Kyrie and Love were much better perimeter shooters than Wade and Bosh and better free throw shooters. They were better players all around outside of maybe Bosh being a little more athletic than Love and Wade being a little better passer than Kyrie. Other than that, the 3 of them complimented each other incredibly well. As you said, the issue comes from Miami having a strong power structure and a coach who had the support of his owner/GM to implement a system. I think Spolestra is a much more competent coach than Lue and was able to be an actual coach. It also came down to LeBron. He realized the weight of The Decision and learned he had to swallow some pride to make that work in Miami... at least until he had to carry broken down Wade and Bosh to their 2nd title and 4th Finals appearance in years 3 and 4. LeBron has never been a "system" guy except for 2+/- years in Miami. Other than that, he's a hard player to develop young talent with and to have a consistent offense. The Cavs only offense is 3 Man Weave from 30' away from the basket and High Pick and Roll. When non-LeBron line ups are on the floor and the Pick and Roll fails, its a bunch of deer in headlights. Guys like Hood, Clarkson, Crowder, and IT were not bad players... they didn't forget how to shoot or dribble. But they benefited from a system. The benefited from staying engaged, from moving without the ball, to knowing their job, to knowing where shots were coming from, knowing how the offense works and is manipulated. When they came to Cleveland (read: LeBron), it was a bunch of stand, stand, stand, stand, HURRY UP MAKE A SHOT THE SHOT CLOCK IS ABOUT TO GO OFF! Its incredibly pronounced now. When Kyrie was here, he could get to the basket at will, so it never really looked like the offense broke down... even when it did because Kyrie is THAT good. How the narrative around the Warriors went from everyone fawning over the “best team ever” to “yeah, of course they won, nobody’s impressed” when Durant joined up. No matter how good Durant is, his legacy will forever be tied to joining a 73-win team he blew a 3-1 lead against to get his rings. No matter how many titles the Warriors win, their legacy will forever be tied to begging the second-best player in the league to join them after blowing a 3-1 lead after winning 73 games. Glad we got our win in 2016 because this would’ve played out in the most Cleveland way ever otherwise. Still think LeBron sticks around, and still think it’s possible for the Cavs to get another ring, but also recognize it’s unlikely. I think he's going to stay in Cleveland for 2 more years. Then he will sign is second to last contract for 3-5 years with the Lakers. Then he'll resign with the Cavs on a 1-day contract to retire a Cav. Lakers - They don't make sense right now. Rockets - You are REALLY going to take the ball out of Harden's and Paul's hands to put it in LeBron's? Have you seen the Cavs no-movement offense? He doesn't work there for a multitude of reasons. Phila - Could make sense, they are young and athletic... but outside of Reddick... they have no floor spacing. That team would need some over hauling.
