This was born out of the discussions in the Bucs rumours thread.

So what I set out to do was merge the original creamsicle identity with the 1997-2013 identity. I kept the 97-13 version of the logos, as I consider the new ones to be massive downgrades. I did alter the colours though. The red and orange on the logos now matches the shade from the Bucco Bruce creamsicle set.

Colour-wise I wanted something that recalled the simplicity and brightness of the creamsicle set, but still hearkened back to a tougher pirate look. I went went with the original creamsicle shades, but chose to emphasize red. I also opted to use black both to call back to the SB set and because I felt it helped tie the entire look together, from logos to uniforms. Pewter was removed entirely. It worked well as the helmet and pants colour from the 1997-2013 set, but between the flat matte fabrics in use now and the over-use of it in the current set? I felt it was time to remove. It also allows the team to embrace red with a traditional template and not look like the ripoff 49ers. Besides, this allows for more white, which further hints back to the brightness of the creamsicle identity.

A white helmet also makes it throwback compatible within the NFL's one helmet rule.

I really like it, with a couple tweaks. 
 

There’s a lot of striping everywhere but the socks are blank. Maybe add some striping there?

 

I see what you’re going for but I really like the more blood red from the 97 set. The orange might pop more if the red is a bit darker.

Nein! The black socks were the one weakness of the 1997-2013 set, IMO, because everywhere else, black was just a trim color. Likewise, it is mostly just outlines here. Let's keep it that way.

I like it but would love the emphasis on the orange rather than the red. 

 

The other thing I'd love to see them do it use the Bucco Bruce format on the helmet but substitute the current skull for the human face.

So much of this is right, and it's a really good concept, but I still hate it. Ditching the pewter color in favor of white just kills it for me. That color is the best thing about the Bucs branding, and always has been (IMO, of course). 

 

If you swapped the white for pewter, it'd be a huge win.

After following the discussion yesterday and hearing the arguments for a white helmet, I toyed around with a couple ideas, and this is essentially exactly what I came up with.. the only real difference being the way you tied the striping into the black cuff (nice touch).. I think there would be other options for helmet logo (not saying the flag isn't the best option), but I think something in this vein would be the best possible option for them.. it's basically just reusing the super bowl set with a couple very minor tweaks, and somewhat blending some creamsicle era elements into the identity (particularly the white helmet and sleeve stripes).. this exact set here, with orange alternate and creamsicle throwbacks would surely be a big hit with the fan base, while safely reeling the uniforms back in closer to the SB set.. 

While not the most creative direction to take them, possibly the best "new" option that ties in the different era.. bravo

I disagree, add the black socks, it breaks up all the red.

Add thicker black outlines around the numbers. 

 

Thin black outlines on replica jerseys during the 1997-14 years seemed really cheap.

The orange feels very yellow paired with the red, I know it’s creamsicle but what would it look like if it were the much darker redder shade of orange they used in the super bowl set

I feel like the black is unnecessary, apart from the ship logo. But I wouldn't be mad if this is actually what the Bucs looked like.

I'm a fan of the orange, but maybe it would be best served as an alt?

 

I'd be interested to see the initial set you did, but with the sock striping to match the sleeve/cuff somehow.. maybe lower the overall striping pattern a bit and run the bottom black stripe down to meet the white? Or perhaps use the bottom half white section as the center white stripe, so directly above it would be the orange and black?.. just spitballing ideas
