Seadragon76
Since the start of college hoops is getting closer, it's fair enough that a topic for it gets started. A few things for this upcoming season... -Bubbles. Lots of bubbles. The biggest bubble will be at the Mohegan Sun Arena where a few early season events are being held at. The biggest being the 2K Classic where you have the preseason #2 and #3 teams (Baylor and Villanova) in this event. Another bubble event is the Crossover Classic in Sioux Falls. This replaces the Battle 4 Atlantis event that's usually held at this time of year. -Conference games will undergo a massive shift in many conferences as you'll see more two game sets at one site. This helps with outbreak issues that might arise. -The big news from yesterday comes from the Ivy League as they will NOT play any winter sport this year. This means one extra at-large bid for March Madness.

MJWalker45
The 2021 NCAA Women's Tournament will be held completely in Texas. Most likely that includes UTSA, UIW, and the Alamodome, and possibly other sites near San Antonio like Texas State and UT-Austin. Trinity University, a Division III school is also in the area, and they have a 1,100 seat gym but that wouldn't be a factor if no fans are allowed. St. Mary's is Division II and Our Lady of the Lake is NAIA. https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/30519161/ncaa-play-women-ncaa-basketball-tournament-one-site-eyes-san-antonio
See Red
Gators star Keyontae Johnson transferred to Gainesville, still in critical condition In case anyone missed it, Florida Forward Keyontae Johnson collapsed on the court this weekend against Florida State and was taken to a hospital in Tallahassee. There haven't been many updates but as of yesterday, he was in a medically induced coma. Florida had a Covid outbreak that caused them to delay the start of their season but I'm not certain if it has been confirmed whether or not he had it and certainly not whether or not this was related. Florida's also cancelled a few upcoming games.

Seadragon76
Some big surprises have popped up as of late... This one isn't surprising as one of my favorite punching bags (Chicago State) has called it quits after going 0-9 for the season. On the flip side is Duke. The Women's team is calling it quits after going 3-1 on the season.
floydnimrod
I know COVID is causing a lot of stress/depression/anxiety/etc. among everyone, but there's been a few players stepping away from their teams midway through the season. It just seems like strange timing with all of them happening as new semesters start up. Mancakes: The Bandhttps://twitter.com/FloydNimrod
Seadragon76
We now have a general idea for March Madness... Selection Sunday - March 14th First Four - March 18th (Two games at West Lafayette and Bloomington) First Round - March 19th and 20th (All six sites host games; First Four winners play on Saturday) Second Round - March 21st and 22nd (All six sites host games) Sweet 16 - March 27th and 28th (Held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and Hinkle Fieldhouse) Elite Eight - March 29th and 30th (Held at Lucas Oil Stadium) Final Four - April 3rd and 5th (Held at Lucas Oil Stadium)
floydnimrod
This certainly throws my planned vacation for a loop. I usually take at least Wednesday-Friday off for a normal tourney. Might take that Sweet 16 Monday off instead. I was thinking about how strange the at-large picture will look this year. It seems like a lot of large conference teams that would find themselves on the bubble will look a lot worse, record-wise. Those teams usually have to stack up easy wins at the beginning of the season, and just do ok in their conference. So with a handful of easy games disappearing from their schedule, and these teams likely having the same amount of losses as usual (provided a lot of postponed conference games are made up), are we looking at .500-level teams getting at-large bids this year? Seadragon76
Time for a resurrection as it is Championship Time... Ohio Valley - Evansville, IN #2 Morehead State Eagles vs. #1 Belmont Bruins Records MORE: 22-7 (17-3) BEL: 26-3 (18-2) March begins with an Evening in Evansville... The Bruins have ran roughshod through the Ohio Valley yet again, but Morehead State has been able to keep pace with the Bruins throughout the season. They also took down Belmont in the regular season finale - something that Belmont remembers very, very well. It's also a rubber match for these two. Dilbert
Cincinnati is a college basketball hotspot with Cincinnati, Xavier, Northern Kentucky, Miami (OH) with area schools of Ohio State, Kentucky and even Dayton and Wright State also well represented. Some will even include, Indiana, Butler and Louisville. None of the locally followed teams made the big dance this year. The top 3 schools followed are Cincinnati, Xavier and Kentucky. For the first time in 42 years all three missed the tournament collectively. Excluding Kentucky, 36 years for Cincinnati and Xavier.
