While they certainly have a home-field advantage (though the Lions should have won there, regardless of what some folks say), their games against any well-followed team are split 50/50 at best . Yesterday was at least 50/50 Packers crowd, and so are their games against Phila, Buf, Pit, and other teams with similarly-rabid fanbases. They're one notch above LA, LV, and the Florida teams. My boss is one of the lifelong bandwagon Cowboy fans who has never lived anywhere outside of suburban LA but at least has been to games in Arlington and actually went to the last playoff game that they lost to Brady’s Bucs in Tampa. Just glad that I don’t have to be in the office until Thursday.

The Packers were the first 7 seed to win a game in the new system and I think they proved that they belong. How does that reward mediocrity? The_Admiral
Reading about Amon-Ra St. Brown's wacky family is a trip. His dad is a hotep who believed he had to breed an Aryan woman to create a master race of trilingual athletes (and also invented the name "St. Brown" because he thought "Brown" didn't have enough pizzazz). The NFL has a ways to catch up with the NBA, but this is the future of pro sports, just nothing but these cloistered neurotic biracial kids. 1 Quote ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Comparing a #7 seed in a 32 team league to a #16 seed in a 68 team tournament is silly. The 16 seed has won exactly two times in the NCAA Tournament. It took 33 years for it to happen the first time. The overall 16 vs 1 record is 150-2. Pittsburgh and Green Bay (there may have been others, I don't remember) both won a Super Bowl as the #6 seed in the playoffs. The gap between a 1 and 7 seed in the NFL is nowhere close to being as large as the gap between a 16 and a 1 in the NCAA. 4 Quote All roads lead to Dollar General. The point is that just because a 7 seed finally won doesn't mean the addition of a 7th seed was a good move, nor is all that complaining everyone did about the new format now considered a controversial and contrarian take. It's funny how everyone seemed to agree with this the last 3 years, but as soon as one of those 9-8 teams wins it's now The Way Things Should Be.

Kinda like this I'm ecstatic to finally have that win past us, but admittedly not feeling super confident moving forward. The "bend, don't break" defense is stressful to watch, and the offense seems to go completely flat at times, as demonstrated yesterday in the 2nd half. Missing tackles and giving up 3rd and longs can't continue to win football games, although I'd be happy to be proven wrong. That said, from the beginning of the season, I felt like this should be a good "step forward" season, so winning the division and a home playoff game definitely feels like a success. Looking forward to the rest of the playoffs and the future for once. 4

No one looked at your 16 vs 1 comparison and thought "Oh, he must be talking about the NFL." Nice try, though. 1 Quote All roads lead to Dollar General. The_Admiral
I think we all had a good chuckle at the Cowboys getting owned, but the 17th game and 7 seed were both net negatives. Dallas should have earned a bye, teams should never play an uneven home/road schedule, I don't need 9 a.m. Titans games in Frankfurt. 2 1 Quote ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

You're being bizarrely combative given the fact you agree with my point. Why would I be talking about the NCAA? There are 16 teams in an NFL conference. I'm not going to specify that I'm talking about the NFL in an NFL thread.

Well, since the NCAA has a 16th seed and the NFL doesn't, the expectation that you were talking about the NCAA and not the NFL is pretty high. I was there as well. 2 Quote It's where I sit. If I weren't a mod I'd say something that's not very nice, but since I am a mod, I'll just say that you're incorrectly reading my intent. These were your exact words. "Play enough 1v16 games and eventually the 16th seed will win." We're supposed to fill in the NFL, the Panthers, and whatever else your point was supposed to be from that? C'mon. Maybe being a little more specific sometimes isn't the worst idea. 3 Quote All roads lead to Dollar General.
