It is nice to at least have that. All of 2022 was annoying from my perspective because it was like the Bills got more credit for almost beating the Chiefs in 2021 than the Bengals got for actually beating the Chiefs. Didn't make sense to me. It's all narrative stuff. The world wasn't primed for the Bengals to be good, so it didn't count. It's why Lamar Jackson is about to win an MVP although Brock Purdy or Josh Allen would be better candidates. Narrative bias. 2 Quote 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
ruttep
2 hours ago, DG_ThenNowForever said: Depends on what you mean by "back." Those Bills haven't lost their division since. Last season their teammate died on the field. This year they were missing 7 defensive starters and lost by 3. I know I'm being a fanboy some of these things are not like the others. "Back" in this case means back to the conference title game. Yes, they've had some bad luck, but it just goes to show how hard it is to get back to that point, how much has to go right to reach that point. We lost our team and the fans somehow lost 20 football IQ points in the process. I forgot who pointed it out on Twitter but it was that for all the talk of the Ravens' organizational excellence under their 15th-year coach or whatever, the team on the field is a bunch of certified dum-dums when it matters most. IQ leaks all over the place here, I guess. Quote ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

In the early 80s, my buddies and I were watching a Browns game and one of the announcers said that the Browns had the most college graduates of any team in the NFL. It was something like 80% of the team. We thought it was really cool that the Browns were "smarter" than all the other teams. All those degrees didn't do all on the field, but Browns fans will take any win they can get.
Red Comet
So even in the 80s, a piece of paper saying you have the time and money to waste four years of your life didn’t mean you were smarter than anyone else? The more you know.

Also, college was way cheaper and more valuable back then.

Most teams don't even have those two seasons though. If you remove the right years you can make that argument for every team. 4 Quote i have unquantifiable corpses on my conscience

I'll share my favorite one so far. There are people saying Taylor Swift is a Pentagon psyop which would be hilarious except I think these people actually believe it. We're doomed as a society. Enjoy the chaos. 1

On one hand, sure On the other, the amount of the Sports Blogosphere going from pretending to be die-hard Philadelphia sports fans last year to 12 months later going full on Chiefs fans because of Taylor Swift making the worst people on social media annoyed is giving me whiplash. Red Comet
Anyone trying to make a political statement about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce needs to get their head examined. As if being born and raised in Kansas City wasn’t enough to get me to back the Chiefs.

JerseyJimmy
really cool how a bunch of people who probably still pull the "OH IS THERE A SPORTSBALL ON" card like clockwork each February have decided that if you don't unconditionally support Billionaire's Boyfriend's Team then you're a conspiracy-poisoned whackjob. no, jerkoff, I just want a different goddamn team to win the AFC for once. 3

Is that happening? My read on it is there are clear nutjobs struggling to process their feelings on Taylor Swift, but I felt like the football allegiances were otherwise arbitrary. I'm rooting for SF in two weeks but don't think the other result is evidence of a deep state. Well, at least separate from however compromised the NFL is with the gambling industrial complex. 1 Quote 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

I've seen people say "Oh, this Super Bowl is going to be TERRIBLE for conservatives!" No, it's terrible for liberals: one team's logo used to be an Indian plastered over five Republican states, and the other one has a white guy at running back. 5 Quote ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
