If Philadelphia were to have a symbol, what do you think it should be?

A drunken tailgater giving the finger with one hand and whipping batteries at opposing fans with the other.

The building is so grandiose that it cannot adequately be captured in pictures. You really have to go there and just marvel at its splendour. From all angles — including from within, in the passages to the internal courtyard — it is breathtaking. I've never been so awed by any other work of art.

It and the layout of the city with the central streets and the grand diagonal to the art museum are works of art.  I love the city.  And considering my other favorite is Notre Dame de Paris (the third is the Forbidden City but wear and modern photography and other issues are dulling my taste for it), I regard it highly.

Does it need one?  How many of cities that normal people know have logos?  NYC = statue of liberty (I think), Chicago has the stars from the flag, LA?  Houston?  New Orleans I guess the fleur de lis, Atlanta?

down-low brothers

I think the Liberty Bell is kinda neat. It's impressive but flawed, just like Philadelphia, just like America.

And away we go! One of the first on field looks we have seen at spring training.

Also, I’m wondering if the perforated numbers will be a team by team decision, instead of a league wide thing. We saw the Braves a week or two ago with the non perforated numbers and I assumed they were using old number stock. But now a few of the Nike Elite jerseys are starting to hit retailers. So far, the only clubs I’ve seen with the perforated numbers are the Dodgers and D Backs (below). The retail Nike image includes that number style for them, but regular numbers for most teams. This gives me hope teams have a choice.

I hope more than anything that the perforated numbers are optional, & that the Twins in particular opt out.

Some observations...
1) I know it's just a rendering, but the Phillies NOB seems especially small.
2) The belt tunnels look really bad...but hey, Nike saved $0.25 per pair of pants that way!
3) Aesthetic screw-ups aside, those Dodgers jerseys look really poorly made. I doubt these are going to wear well.

It's just a form of branding.  Probably nothing to do with cost savings.

IDK. Nike's thing is usually "why have one seam when we can have  six?" With the MLB template, though, there's less of everything: narrower placket, simpler belt tunnels (albeit with the odd angles), smaller NOBs, Orioles' front number change, enforced standardization, no venting, no diaper tail.
It seems like instead of trying to beat the knockoffs, they're imitating the knockoffs.

To my knowledge, nobody is selling knockoff pants.

I'd argue Gritty is Chaotic Neutral and the Phanatic is Chaotic Good.

I feel like Gritty is on the line between Chaotic Neutral and Chaotic Evil, but that's just me.

Phanatic is the Chaotic who drinks and has a good time but knows his limit and doesn't wake up with a hang over.

Gritty is the binge drinker who doesn't know when to stop and wakes up passed out on someones lawn.

Padres are the second team whose pitchers and catchers have reported. It’s hard to see, but zooming in, it would appear they have the perforated numbers. Barely noticeable, though. Having seen a few of these teams so far, the MLB logo and name size isn’t really bothering me. I think the only thing that will take getting used to is the sleeve trim on a couple clubs. But I think on the whole, the Nike update is largely overblown.

All other team’s pitchers and catchers report either the 14th or 15th, so we will get a look at everyone else in the next few days.
