Probably got inspired by the Canucks' black matte helmets used with their black Skate 3rds. It could be a new trend with NHL uniforms. It's a decent look. Bring it back as an alternate please! LOVE IT. Beautiful colour scheme. I would have just the classic crown and not the shield logo. It's a nice combo of the 70's, 80's and early 90's. It matches the photo from the other day and all but confirms that as real. The B&W version has the sticks in black, with the white details preventing them from being invisible over the black circle. Maybe that helps the orange sticks stand out on the new jersey. The overall balance is a bit different to the original, but in a good way. The more I look at it the more it feels right. The logo has too much white and not enough gold compared the the rest of the jersey, and the double outlined white numbers on the gold sleeve stripes look awful. The sticks look better, they finally got consistent outlines on the logo, and the spacing of the holes on the mask is is a small but welcome change. The Senators Draft logo on social media incorporates the shoulder shield that previously graced the third "barberpole" jerseys from 2011-17 and had the bilingual Senators/Sénateurs wordmark, and was never seen again. Did designers just need a template for this and pulled the old thing out of the archives without giving it any thought, or maybe teasing a new alternate for next season?
