Somehow, I feel that wolf gray (huh!) a bright emerald green like what they have now, and some black trim would be a striking color combo on its own--and unique within the NBA landscape. Digby
Honestly I think the WNBA team is the one that got the updated brand right. The wordmark (which the Wolves also use) is a good modern clean-up of the o.g. pointy font. The base shade of blue is that fairly unique teal-ish shade of the KG years. Navy and lime are fitting trim colors but they do their best work, as here, as trim colors (and you need a green somewhere). This could use one or two more elements to make it less plain -- maybe that side texture like the current Wolves' had on their grey or their mashup City jerseys. This exact jersey's plainness feels cheap. But the color scheme and basic design feels like a more successful modernization of classic Wolves to me.

Literally the exact blue the Timberwolves have used since the initial KG rebrand and still use to this day. It's never changed. It's actually a fairly commonly used shade. It's the "steel blue" for both the Avalanche and Blue Jackets (their vintage alternate). 6 Quote https://dribbble.com/MakaioCall

Point is their second jersey has been navy for the entirety of this rebrand era, which has been a big flaw in it, but the Lynx show how they could have pulled off the brand update without ditching that classic Wolves blue jersey.

Exactly. It’s a shame that blue has been in the back burner as Navy has never screamed Timberwolves since their rebrand.

They kinda tried it in the 2000s with the initial rebrand. Something about it works, but there's something off about it as well.

FiddySicks
With the T Wolves, I absolutely HATE that they ditched this logo For this garbage logo ENORMOUS downgrade IMO. If anything, they could’ve just cleaned the first logo up a bit and added in some green, and it would’ve been such a solid update to their original logo. What they went with stripped all of the life and character out of it. 10 1 1 2 Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) They could have tweaked the first one slightly (like getting rid of the subliminal tree, but MUCH better than the current one. The green eye has always looked awkward to me. The placement looks off? I can’t tell? But, I hate it … 1 Quote "I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific." Lily Tomlin

Switching to silver did make that set look better, albeit more boring.

If that ain't about the most '90s relic ever. (Seriously, go back and look at how many NBA teams had stripes and/or paneling on just one side of their uniforms. The Grizzlies still do it as part of their overall brand.) Anyway, yes, this always was my favorite Wolves set. But favorite does not always =/= best, and I can see how many would favor the original (now throwback) sets over the KGs (that's what I'm calling them). Having said that, I still think adding the tree trim to a look more based on the throwbacks would be the smart play for the Wolves. And about that logo... 18 hours ago, FiddySicks said: With the T Wolves, I absolutely HATE that they ditched this logo For this garbage logo ENORMOUS downgrade IMO. What they went with stripped all of the life and character out of it. I actually feel exactly the opposite. I don't love the current Wolves logo, but I do feel it's a big improvement over the former one (on top). Why? For these reasons: - Obvious forcing of trees and T into that top wolf logo is obvious--and not particularly well-rendered. - Even though it's a partial logo (and not "global", otherwise it'd have the team name rolled into it), the yellow eye is big-time out of place. - The overall composition comes across about as robotic and "sanitized" as the current Buccaneers logo when you compare it to the first Jolly Roger logo. Both that skull & crossbones and that white wolf "pop off" the background rather than "flowing with" the background...which is kinda essential if both logo elements are to be part of a larger composition. - The current logo, to me at least, corrects those deficiencies. First of all, making the wolf gray (ha!) Rather than white makes a big difference. The linework is also smoother, as is color usage. Now the glyphs themselves...I get the "rune" influence, but it never really did anything for me. That said, considering league requirements for "global logos", the current one does a much better job of incorporating all the required elements (a basketball of some sort and the team name) into one composition. That green north star is probably not needed, though. All that said, I still think I'd prefer a cleaned-up version of the KG wolfhead logo going forward, but it'd probably wouldn't be that easy to roll it into a global logo composition without it looking extra clunky, so I'll take the now-current logo. (And I'm still mulling over whether the entire brand could survive minus the blue...) 9 3 Quote *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||

FiddySicks
I do understand the greater distaste of trying to over force elements to a logo, but I have to disagree here on this one. Were there some forced elements to the last T Wolves logo? Sure. But what exactly were those “forced”elements? Trees! They were trees. It’s half of the team name. And this is a team that has a history of using the tree motif on their uniforms already. There are very few logos that I love to an irrational level, and that logo is one of them (oddly, two of them play in Minnesota, as I feel similar about the Wild logo. Bucs first flag is the other. I digress). The current logo is about as generic of a wolf logo as you could get. It might as well be painted on the court of a middle school gym it’s so generic. 3 Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.)
