Red Comet
Guess I’m going to get to experience a blast from the past with the Royals playing the Yankees. Glad they aren’t dealing with Bally Sports next year. I’d actually like to watch a Royals game without waiting until October!
TrueYankee26
AL Central sweep the ALWCS and will be 3/4 of the ALDS. Orioles... have they become the new Minnesota Twins? Quote trueyankee26.wordpress.com
Dynasty
Not trying to discredit the AL Central teams, but man, this really feels like it's the Yankees run to lose. Their track record against that division has been pretty good in the past decade. With no Boston or Houston to act as a roadblock, I think this is New York's best shot.

SFGiants58
If anything, the new format has shown that the NL Central is the weakest division, not the AL Central. SFGiants58
And down go the Braves! San Diego should hopefully feast on LA’s patchwork rotation. This also means that the Mets will be the only team to have been in both game threes in the Wild Card round. Sport
There’s been 12 of these wildcard miniseries* and only two of them have gone a full three games. Brewers trying to be the first team to comeback from a 1-0 hole to advance. That’s weird. *EDIT: I should say they played 8 best of 3 series in the 2020 COVID NIT so I looked it up and only two of those eight series went three games. The A's came back to advance after losing their opening game to the White Sox (wild how different things are for both of these teams now) and the Padres came back to advance after losing their opening game to the Cardinals. But that was such a goofy one third of a season and playoffs that I feel like it almost didn't happen.
BBTV
I'm worried to death that the Mets are the '22 Phillies, and I'm also worried about the long layoff since that seems to have thrown teams off in the past. I've learned not to root one way or another based on who you want your team to play, because it always results in a "be careful what you wish for" situation, but man - I don't want to see the Mets. Regardless of who wins between Mets and Brewers, is this the strongest NL final 4 in... ever? Partycrasher
this already feels light-years away from last year's postseason. my guess is that Manfred took one look at the ratings a Dallas vs. Phoenix Series got and immediately decided "good lord, never letting that happen again." you know, as he should. 2

Don't know if it's the best ever (it might be), but it's pretty damned solid. I don't have a horse in the race, but if we're doing "the team I'd least like to face", it's easily the Padres. FrutigerAero
Padres seem to have lots of momentum this year. Did their one pitcher end up being injured in the wild card round?
LMU
Potentially big development. Looks like they’ve developed an upgraded Tommy John procedure. If we count the Cardinals in 2022, the NL Central hasn't advanced into the divisional round yet. If anything, they're a weaker division than the AL Central (albeit stronger than the AL West). Partycrasher
to paraphrase a tweet I saw, I'm pretty sure Pete just hit the most job-securing dinger in history. honestly, I said the Mets even making it in was enough for me, but now I'm pretty firmly satisfied no matter what happens from here. do I think they're gonna beat the Phillies? god no, but I'm just happy they came all the way back from the dead to make the Real Playoffs. TrueYankee26
Congrats to the Tigers, Royals, Padres and the Mets! Kinda interesting that 3 teams from the AL Central are in the ALDS but no NL Central teams are in the NLDS. 3 divisional rivalries and a revival of an old rivalry from the 1970s-1980s (Yankees-Royals) comprise the LDSes this year. Pete Alonso was getting a lot of crap from Mets nation this year from what I saw but that HR will get him some praise.
