FiddySicks
At tonights game vs Detroit, while introducing the Pistons, the Kings flashed pictures of abandoned buildings, burned out cars, and pretty much any other insulting steriotype to represent Detriot, (which i think is accually a very nice city, well, other than Detriot metropolitan airport) that you can think of. As a Kings fan i have to say that im embarrassed and ashamed, while the team has already submitted an apology i feel they should face some sort of fine. Anyone else ever hear of a situation like this at a sports arena? On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) ProvidenceRI
holy crap. that's the worst thing i've ever heard of. it's tolerable when fans say something or make their own signs, but to have a franchise be behind this? WTF.it's like coke puttin gout ads saying that "drink coke. pepsi is gay."it's not right, it's kinda like kicking somebody when they're down.i know a lot of cool people from detroit, but they haven't bragged about how pretty their city is, so i'm guessing it is as scary as it was in RoboCop.god knows what they'll show when they play new jersey. OMMF
Detroit is (was) that bad. They're working on a comeback, but when I was there last, it looked just like you described. Sometimes the truth hurts.
tp49
Detroit is a mess and the political situation means it will be a bigger mess before it gets better, police and fire layoffs a mayor who lavishly spends taxpayer dollars on himself, high unemployment...But they did have the All Star game and they're getting the upcoming Super Bowl and downtown is startign to look better. Before the Kings start running smack though, maybe they should start winning some games. I'd expect that kind of plop from college boys, maybe, but not from the management of an NBA franchise. It makes the Kings look like losers. VitaminD
I find that funny........are you sure it wasn't images of Camden, NJ? Yeah, as if... Detroit WISHES it could kill its own with the bloodless efficiency of Camden ("America's Murder Capital! Now hands up!").I've been to Detroit a couple times, and I live 10 minutes from Camden. I also work in Camden from time to time (it's one of the hospitals my group covers). And the way I describe Detroit, is "like Camden, only a lot bigger". Detroit may be making a comeback in some sections, but there's a lot to overhaul. I've never been less impressed by an American city, and some of the places I drove through were deplorable. Before you think I am being overly harsh, I'll be the first to say Camden is just the same way. And Camden is rotten to its core and its leaders. But it's SLOWLY turning over, one block at a time. I'm sure Detroit's the same way. It was only 10-15 years ago that you didn't see anyone on the streets of Center City Philadelphia after dark; now it's got some of the best restaurants in the country and you'll find people out enjoying a nicely redone part of the city. Same with the gentrified areas like Manayunk. It may have been wrong to show the ugly truth about Detroit. But it's still the truth. There's just mile after mile of blight and disrepair that aren't going away any time soon. "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Shumway
I've never been to Detroit, although I'm making he 8-hr. drive in December to catch a Red Wings game. However, I've gone through some bad parts of Baltimore. I was surprised to see that Johns Hopkins is in such a bad place. Washington D.C. isn't much better. But as far as Sacramento goes, that is pretty classless. Someone on Around the Horn said they should be fined more than Dallas was a few years back for going after Doug Christie.

What did Dallas do, btwLike Detroit is the only blighted city on the NBA circuit. You could do it when the Jazz come to town if you look in the right places.
