FiddySicks
They had to get the Jets' permission, right? Probably not. Its high school ball and i dont see how they would be making any real profit off of their players jerseys On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) slats7
It's still a trademark/copyright violation. Profit has nothing to do with it.
thegame4219
not at a high school level, they arent selling/making profit off of the logo so it falls under the fair use act, my school has the eagles logo and it is ok because of that, and NFL has deals with high school where a teams likeness can be used at a high school level aslong as they are not making direct profits off of that logo
bosox
Honestly, the majority of high schools have a pro or college team logo as their own, maybe changed a little bit. They don't ask for permission to use them, as long as they aren't big time high school teams that would sell loads and loads of merchandise. I don't think any NFL team would want to be known as the team that sued a high school football team because of a logo. I know its happened (see the Angles (MLB) vs. a high school), but most teams won't go that far.
mjrbaseball
I don't think any NFL team would want to be known as the team that sued a high school football team because of a logo. The negative PR wouldn't be worth it. All that would happen is that some other team would step in and tell the school it could adapt their logo, and that team would look like a hero.I remember reading a news story once where Disney sued a nursery school because they had Mickey Mouse and other characters painted on it. Along comes Warner Brothers and offers to renovate the school and repaint it with Bugs Bunny and friends at no cost.

scottywazz
I remember my HS in Maryland asked to use the Fightin' Irish logo for our school name, the Gaels. A letter was sent to Notre Dame and they refused to let a private Catholic school use the logo. So, the athletic department and those involved altered it just enough not to get in trouble and we used the logo anyway.
rtrich11
I actually think this high school pulls off the shoulder striping and white sleeve better than Reebok. The stripes are further down the shoulder. Looks much better not having to accomodate the logo, either. cafepress.com/artbyrichards
slats7
If it's not a big deal, why don't we see more teams resembling the Cowboys or Raiders, two classic unis?
Perfect Zero
I remember when there was a high school team named the Panters, and they used a slightly modified K-State logo. Kansas State sued them big time for it too.

I think Depew High School in NY still uses a modified K-State logo. It's white on a navy background with one of the "whiskers" a light blue. mustangdmg
You'd be surprised how many high schools uses NFL and college logos across the country. Do a google search for high school helmet project. Washington state, Missouri, Ohio, Delaware, Florida and a few more. The most popular logos for high schools I've seen, in my opinion; the Packers' G logo, the Bears' C logo, FSU's spear logo, Univ Wisconsin's W logo, the Cardinals logo, Kansas State's, Michigan's 3 stripes, and etc. The Arizona High School Helmet Project
aykay
We used the Clemson paw when I played in high school. I think they have the Pitt helmet logo from last season now.

I know we used a green/gold version of the Detroit Lions logo at our school, and almost every school in Georgia that starts with a G or has a G as a nickname uses the Packers G. Discrim
I recall Green Bay Notre Dame HS using the Jets look a few years ago when they made the trip to state...funny thing was their normal colors are blue and white, but for this game they wore green and white.
