I don't know if the games would've been better, but here are some match-ups I think I'd have preferred seeing:

III - New York Jets vs. Cleveland Browns

(In part because I'm a Browns homer, but in part because maybe, just maybe they'd have done something to beat the Jets)

IV - Kansas City Chiefs vs. Cleveland Browns

(Again, because maybe, just maybe the Browns do something different to make it a more competitive game)

V - Oakland Raiders vs. San Francisco 49ers

(The actual Bal-Dal matchup sucked, and the 'Battle of the Bay' angle would've proved interesting)

XI - Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Minnesota Vikings

(Only to see if the Steelers could've won 3 straight, and if the Vikes could beat the boys from the Burgh the second time around)

XII - Oakland Raiders vs. Dallas Cowboys

(Because the Raiders surely would've done at least better than Denver did)

XVI - San Diego Chargers vs. San Francisco 49ers

(If it hadn't been for home-field advantage, the Chargers likely would've won the AFC title tilt over Cincy that year, and a Dan Fouts vs. Joe Montana match-up would've been a helluva show)

XIX - San Francisco 49ers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

(The Steelers blew up against Miami in the AFC title game that year, but were the only team all season to beat the 49'ers).

XX - Chicago Bears vs. Miami Dolphins

(Same as with the Steelers the year before, the Dolphins missed the big dance by one game, and were the only team to get a "W" against their would-be opponents)

XXI - Cleveland Browns vs. New York Giants

XXII - Cleveland Browns vs. Minnesota Vikings

XXIV - Cleveland Browns vs. Los Angeles Rams

(The fan comes out in wishing the Browns could've done something to beat Denver in their three epic AFC title clashes; the fan returns to pick the match-ups I think would've been more favorable to the Brownies).

XXVI - Detroit Lions vs. Buffalo Bills

(Because Lion fans wouldn't have to say they'd never been to a Super Bowl, and Bills fans could say their team won at least one of 'em).

XXIX - Pittsburgh Steelers vs. San Francisco 49'ers

(Because there's no way that defense allows 49 points, like the Chargers did. The Steelers may not win the game, but they don't cough up near 50, either).

XXXI - Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Carolina Panthers

(It just would've been neat to have not one, but two second-year NFL teams in its biggest game).

XXXV - Oakland Raiders vs. New York Giants

(Why? Four words: I hate Art Modell.)

XXXVII - Tennessee Tuxedos (ehr, Titans) vs. Tampa Buccaneers

(The Raiders fell flat against the Bucs, but at least the Titans wouldn't have tried to basically use Gruden's own playbook against him.)

XXXVIII - New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles

(Simply put, the Panthers had no business being in XXXVIII. On paper the Eagles were the superior team, and to this day I'm amazed the Eagles didn't blow 'em out 47-3.)

Even so, the Kitty Cats kept it close the entire game

Super Bowl XI

New England Patriots vs. Minnesota Vikings

If not for that infamous junk penalty call at the last second it would have most likely have been the Patriots representing the AFC for the 1976 season.

We all have our little faults. Mine's in California.

-one of the rare times I will defend the Panthers-

Obviously they had some business in that game since Philly decided to choke once again. Not only that, if Kasay hadn't have kicked it out of bounds like a dummy, we'd be talking Greatest Super Bowl Upset EVAR, imo.

XXXVI St Louis vs. Oakland. Oakland got screwed versus New England.

And New England got screwed out of Super Bowl XI versus Oakland.

Sounds like they're just about even now.

Philly choked?

When Brian Westbrook, arguably your best player is not even dressed for the game, and McNabb is injured on a late hit and can't throw or run, you don't have much of a chance. That, and the Panthers were (and are) pretty good.

Even if the Eagles had advanced to the Super Bowl, they would still have been without Westbrook and most likely McNabb wouldn't have been able to play. They would have been crushed.

That was one of the greatest Super Bowls ever, I wouldnt ever want to change it. The Panthers played hard that year and definatley deserved it. Plus the Delhomme vs. Brady storyline (UDFA vs a late round QB) was great.

The best Eagles team, besides last years, was the 2002 team that lost to Tampa. Everyone said they should have beaten Carolina, but with all the injuries that would have been nearly impossible. However, they took the lead early on the Bucs and let it slip away. It should have been the Eagles crushing the Raiders, avenging the SB XV loss.

Damn Ronde Barber and Joe Jurevicius. :cursing:

Dr. Kelso: My son is a big baseball fan. Not so much playing it, but more the designing and sewing of uniforms.

Tyler: That's neat.

Dr. Kelso: No, it's not.

also, people tend to try to forget SB XXXVII when the Raiders did make it to the big game only to be trounced by the Buccaneers. At least the commercials were entertaining

XXXI - Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Carolina Panthers

Hell yeah. I was hoping for it that year. Stupid Packers.

I remember routing for this back in the day. Both teams were in their second year and reached the conference championship games which was amazing.
