Rothlisberger shaved the game, made the tackle. Of course it was a kick Vanderjagt should have made, but why is it his fault? Its no more his fault then it is Peyton's or James for not rushing more. Now if it were you or I kicking 40 yarders, that'd be a different story. Yes, but kicking isn't a matter of inches. It's a matter of millimeters. A hold slightly off? A bad spot? Something on your cleat? Kicking just a few millimeters off? All can make a difference from a perfect field goal to the atrocity that came off Vanderjagt's foot.When your team has a good kicker, you sure don't bitch about hating kickers. well ofcourse not- then they are all right....that is the nature of the game. "My Name Is Earl" reference??Anyway yes...Colts were ill-prepared and choked it away.I agree it was a total team and coaching effort,not just Manning,Dungy,or Vanderjagt that lost this game.Also credit the Steelers for shaking up the game plan and coming right out on fire. Patriots don't seem to mind leaving a game up to a kicker...Vanderjagt is the most overrated kicker of all time...he might be the most accurate, but I've seen three games now (one was the Pro Bowl, take it for what you will) where he has missed a game-winning or game-tying kick. This game, also the MNF game in 2004 against the Pats, and that aforementioned Pro Bowl game at the end of the 2003 season . Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.
