It's Fantasy Draft Season

If you're in a league here on the website, please don't bother posting it since it's already common knowledge. If you're involved in any leagues away from the CCSLC, however, please feel free to show us how your draft day went, whether you're preparing to count your winnings or using Rogaine to replace all the hair you pulled out.

I'm involved in a 10-team league with a bunch of people I used to work with, we start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WR/TEs, 1 K, and 1 D/ST. We use 15 player rosters (down from 17 the previous two years).

QBs: Tom Brady, Marc Bulger

RBs: LaDainian Tomlinson, Warrick Dunn, Reuben Droughns, Thomas Jones, LenDale White

WRs: Roy Williams, Derrick Mason, Keyshawn Johnson, Jerry Porter

TE: Jeremy Shockey

K: David Akers

D/ST: Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos

Hopefully this roster is good enough for a three-peat (2-year record of 27-5 including playoffs), I'm never any good at drafting receivers but I'm very happy with my backfield, kicker, and defense.

My office draft will take place on Friday afternoon, and I'll post my roster then. I have the 7th pick, so any strategy on who the best player available around then would be very helpful. I'm thinking LT, Larry Johnson, Shaun Alexander and Ronnie Brown will be gone by then....

Cadillac Williams could be an option at pick 7.

I just did my first draft of 2, the Tampa Bay Barracudas of the World Football Alliance, and here are the results:

QB - J. Delhomme and B. Leftwich

WR - J. Galloway, J. Horn, D. Mason, K. McCardell

RB - C. Williams, D. Davis, D. Foster

TE - A. Crumpler, B. Troupe

K - J. Kasay

Ronnie Brown was picked 7th overall in our league, so he might be available. It seems as though everybody in my league has cribbed my draft strategy, and when looking at my track record, I don't blame 'em ;)

Got another team that will draft after the Preseason.

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

12 team CBS Sportsline league that I managed to win last season. Redraft entire roster every year. Had the 6th overall pick in a snaking draft. One of the rules is that your roster must contain a minimum of:

2 QB

4 RB

4 WR

2 TE

2 K

2 DST (defense/special teams)

Draft was 18 rounds, after everyone filled the mandatory 16 slots, there was a redraw for order for rounds 17-18, where there were no position restrictions. I had the 2nd pick for these last 2 rounds, which also snaked.

Starting lineup consists of:

1 QB, 2RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DST

Here's the roster (gray=drafted but released, blue=claimed off of waivers).

Also, I have bolded my projected starters.

QB: P Manning, Brunell, Jason Campbell

RB: Westbrook, Chester Taylor, Mewelde Moore, Bruce Perry, Kevan Barlow, Musa Smith, Correll Buckhalter, Stephen Davis

WR: Santana Moss, Matt Jones, Eric Moulds, Javon Walker

TE: Jeremy Shockey, Dallas Clark

K: Ryan Longwell, Sebastian Janikowski

DST: Bears, Cardinals
