Shroinke Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 While reading a past UniWatch article, I was reminded of when baseball did one of the more unique things I've seen from the four major leagues. It decided to have their players wear uniforms from the future (more specifically the year 2021).Anyway, much browsing turned up a little website that displayed many (if not all) the uniforms worn that day, so I thought I'd just post the link.Turn Ahead the Clock jerseysI don't know if this has been posted before (the search feature on the forums seems to not work for me), but here are some examples. They range from the mundane:To the downright wacky
eww7633 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Wow, I remember seeing those games way back when and thinking how horrible those were.I was right.
Chazberg Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Nice find. And who knew, all they really had to do was throw on some piping and tapered stripes down the sides... charles-noerenberg.com

JohnnyFriedRice Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Wow, I remember seeing those games way back when and thinking how horrible those were. 7 years ago is now "way back when?"
Gothamite Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Ah, my first website. I still get all misty. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
Cyclopsis Joe Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 To the downright wacky Whoops!Looks like someone's crystal ball is a bit foggy. I don't speak for democrats, democrats don't speak for me.
TruColor Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I've got all of the official Style Guide sheets - on loan...I keep meaning to scan them and post them someday...(and get the book back to its rightful owner!)
eriqjaffe Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I've got all of the official Style Guide sheets - on loan...I keep meaning to scan them and post them someday...(and get the book back to its rightful owner!) Pantone, that would be incredibly sweet. I did a fairly big TATC mod for MVP Baseball 2005 a while back, but I released it in an incomplete state because I simply couldn't find enough pictures of the uniforms......I would love having something to work from so I could release the uniforms I wasn't able to make...
IceCap Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 To the downright wackyWhoops!Looks like someone's crystal ball is a bit foggy. Oh, I don't know, in 20 sor so years fans might be clammering for the old school D'backs teal, puple, and copper. fonz Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Really cool find. I don't even remember these jerseys, but I think they are pretty cool.
Max Power Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Those uniforms were laughable. The robotic Cardinals? Who was the ad wizard that came up with that one.Does anyone remember what the White Sox one looked like? I think it was just a large Sox logo on the front, like the Royals and Marlins jerseys on that website. Anyone know anything else? Thanks.

Those look great, but I'm pretty sure that all the teams had the names sideways, running up the left side of the jersey's back along the number. How many teams also did TATC caps? I know the Brewers did, and the Mets, but I don't know about any others. I'd presume clubs like the Mariners and Giants did, since they overhauled their color scheme, but I'm not positive. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
TruColor Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I'm really not trying to be difficult here, but when I do post these, it will be on my own forum on the SSUR.Sorry!
Gothamite Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 No worries.Looking at Chris' site (where I should have gone in the first place!), I see that I misremembered the placement of names. I thought it was on the left side, it was on the right.Pirates:http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?lo=4935Marlins:http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?lo=4936 The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! BBM Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I don't get it; uniform design and functinon has remained largely unchanged for the better part of a century... and they thought in 20 years every team would look beyond ridiculous and have catarracts? (how else do you explain the enormous logos?)
Gothamite Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Beats me.My favorite TATC story comes courtesy of George Steinbrenner - when asked why the Yankees didn't wear their futuristic uniforms, he said simply "We did." The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
Discrim Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 funny thing about the Marlins jersey...I recall the names being above the numbers, like usual. A strong mind gets high off success, a weak mind gets high off bull

It's pretty much impossible to do the names as they're supposed to be done, Gothamite (I've got modding experience for that game as well and can attest to this).
Bouj Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Anyone interested in buying any of these monsterosities, I know a guy who ended up with a box of them. He can't even give them away. Go Astros!Go Texans!Go Rockets!Go Javelinas!
