NY Rangers will wear Puerto Rico Flag on sholder

DEAD!

Recommended Posts

I wished they played an exhibition game in Hartford, their AHL affiliate like some other clubs are doing, instead of Puetro Rico.

That's a good idea, except for two problems: the NHL will not coming back to Connecticut no matter how badly all of us want it to; and I'm gonna make an estimated guess that 76% of the population of San Juan has never even seen ice before much less people crashing into each other on it.

What I think they should do is a Rangers* vs. Bruins game in Hartford to see if the crowd roots for New York or Massachusetts.**

*Islanders would work also.

**This should be done for every sport that it can be done for. Does Connecticut have any minor league stadiums? Ah! This belongs in another thread.

now this, is awesome.

expand your fanbase, no matter where it might be. It makes sense for the Rangers and Panthers to market to fans in Puerto Rico, seeing as how they both play in markets with a large Puerto Rican population.

and contrary to what certain closed minded shallow individuals might think, there are latino hockey fans out there. Not just in New York and Miami either, but in Dallas, Phoenix, LA, Anaheim, and I know this for a fact, SAN JOSE.

Its time to accept it, hockey is for everyone, no matter what ethnicity you are or the climate where you live.

Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to pull thier head out of thier ass and wipe the :censored: off thier upper lip.

Hell yes. SJ sure does have that Hispanic fanabse rockin. Especially one of the boards finest.

Puckguy14.

Oh, and that other unclean and beastly guy. :P

Why don't they play a game in Mexico while they're at it. They might as well wear shoes on surfboards.

Sounds like a good idea to me! These guys may be interested if you're game...

Why the hell would they want to play a hockey game in Puerto Rico? I could see a game played in Japan, but Puerto Rico?

Why don't they play a game in Mexico while they're at it. They might as well wear shoes on surfboards.

...makes you wonder, eh? ^_^

Just makes me miss the Atlanta Knights.

Just makes me miss the Atlanta Knights.

And the Detroit Vipers, and the Orlando Solar Bears, and the Kansas City Blades.

But not the San Antonio Dragons.

First off this is not a expantion effort to Puerto Rico, it is just a exhibition game down there. The owners of MSG, have interests in the new building that has been built.

Second they might get 5000 fans with about half the tickets given to a charity so kids can get in free. The NHL is not to crazy about this or they would be selling it like madmen.

Third hockey has been played all around the would for decades, it is just you Americans that have just got on board in the last few years. So Shark get your head out of your ass and clean the sh_t off your lip!

My argument wasn't against Hispanics, if you weren't so busy slinging such eloquent comebacks maybe you would have read the first couple of lines in my post and gotten that.

My problem with the NHL is the worthless marketing ploys they are trying. What they should be doing is a better job marketing their game and players WITHIN the continental US as opposed to outside of it. They're getting HAMMERED in the U.S. by all of the other major sports. They only wish they could be like the NFL. They've got a long way to go.

how can I say this without sounding "anti" Hispanic?

Just a senseless move to attract a different crowd to the game.

Attracting a different crowd is senseless? Good thing you don't run the NHL.

Or hopefully any business at all.

Read the post carefully before you put try to put words in some else's mouth.

I said 'Just a senseless move to try to attract a different crowd to the game'

IOW, the move was senseless, not the need to attract a different crowd. <_<

Lets hope you're not in charge of running anything having to do with common sense or thought.

Who's the one not making sense here? There is no other way of interpreting your message. You said 'Just a senseless move to try to attract a different crowd to the game'. And now you're saying it was just the move that was senseless, not the need to attract a different crowd. Hm, well now lets see...

The move = senseless

The move = trying to attract a different crowd

Trying to attract a different crowd = not senseless.

Nice try covering your ass there, but you still sound like an idiot.

It's really quite pointless to whine about anyway. I highly doubt the owners of MSG, with billions of dollars to their names, will ask for your opinion on everything they do with their teams/money.

If the NHL actually had anything to do with this, you may have a point.

I don't have to defend myself because that damn words are right there in black and white. The MOVE is senseless you jackass, not trying to attract a different crowd. Stop trying to find holes in an f-ing post, go do something worth wild like not being a complete moron.

cheers.

no, not really he doesn't sound like an idiot at all, i read that and thought the same thing he posted after, he said they way, they were trying to attract a new crowd is senseless, not attracting a new crowd period. So next time you want to say someone looks like an idiot then wait and see what other people see in the post and not just you. if 5 other people post a comment similar to mine after this, then who looks like the idiot?

On a different not I didn't liek the idea at first but it's warming up to me now. I'm kinda excited, to bad i won't get the game on TV!

powersurge there was no reason, to blast back and call him a jackass! he'sposting his opioion on your comment, ands he's aloud to do that, just as you can post your opion on his, but there's no reason for that man, and there's no reason to go back and forth like an old married couple with nothing better to do!

i completely agree with ICS on this one.

but the real question is, who's the woman on the left of the photo?

I guess looking at the article and the front page of the Rangers website, her name is, Anna Munoz, MB Sports marketing executive.

As for powersurge's argument that this "move" is senseless, IT'S A FREAKIN' EXHIBITION GAME! No exhibition game makes sense anyways. It will not, in any way, affect the way the NHL promotes itself in the US as you've tried to argue. If this makes no sense, then it's makes no less sense than that exhibition game at Caesar's Palace several years back or any NFL exhibition game overseas over the years.

This game will attract a different crowd to hockey even if they don't show up for that game. There could be some curious people on the island who may decide to learn how to skate and eventually might give hockey a go and even buy NHL merchandise, which is what the NHL really wants.

I saw, I came, I left.

If I had to guess, I'd say it would be much like what happened when the Leafs and Sabres played a neutral site game in Hamilton a few years back... the crowd booed both teams the entire time.
