Sad what;s happening to freedom in the US of A.

Ugh. Will you stop? Or at least list ONE freaking freedom you've lost in your life? The chicken little stuff is so predictable yet still annoying.

On topic, I'm all for interesting personalities pushing hockey in America. In the US we have Barry Melrose and Bill Clement. That's it.

See its not Political Correctness here Cherry is not liked because he thinks there should be fighting in the NHL while the rest of the Sports Media is saying hockey is barbaric for having fighting as they bop there heads in agreement and march like sheep in saying the same thing regarding fighting in the NHL. Just look at ESPN hardly anytime spent on the NHL but Chris Simon and its the top story and the NHL is brutal etc etc etc.

Don Cherry says his opinions and they don't like his opinion so they will try to demean him.

Sad what;s happening to freedom in the US of A.

Don Cherry is not liked because he is a racist.

Gentlemen, please do not fight. Only through mutual respect and understanding can we endeavour to heal the injurious rifts in our society.

May the fecal stench of hatred, disrespect and bigotry be supplanted by the sweet aroma of respect and harmony in the nostrils of your soul.

Clement makes me want to omit he's so bad. I get poisoned by my TV whenever he's on it. ugh.

As far as your first statement:

Freedom to smoke where you wish, to say what you want, to eat what you wish to eat. You have politicians trying to curtail speech in such a heinus manner it's damn near a repeat of the Sedition acts. You have politicians telling people what they can or an not eat, wether they can or can not smoke in their OWN HOUSE OR CAR! You have the government taking peoples property under emminent domain, not for public works projects, but for private buisness. It's sickening what is happeneg to this country. If you're an illegal immigrant, you get every right an american citizen has? Are you serious? Yet the american citizen is crapped on by big business and the politicians. The democrats and republicans are both guilty of all of this. This isn't a partisan issue, it's a simple basic freedom issue. And this country is falling apart because of selfishness, apathy, and greed.

I don't agree with Cherry's opinion on the Quebecois, but I don't think its particularly racist. In fact, I'd say 40% of Canadians I know in western Canada hold opinions far worse than Don Cherry's, in regards to Quebec.

While I believe certain freedoms in the United States are being eroded, I don't think which hockey personalities are on the air has anything to do with that particular issue. I find it interesting that civil libertarians are demonized these days, mostly by the very party that once championed them (although the other side takes a swipe now and then too).

I am not so sure Barry Goldwater would be too pleased about that fact. In fact, there isn't a real conservative voice in America anymore, but I digress. (sorry about that).

Mostly it just makes me sad hockey has been relegated to sixth and seventh place in the US (the days of it being the "fouth" sport are long over). If Don Cherry can add a notch or two to the US ratings here, I think its good for the sport. He says extreme things, even controversial things, but he's harmless overall and is such an interesting personality to watch, that it might help some of the saddest ratings the NHL has ever endured.

It's true... lots of things that you want to do that has no effect on anyone around you is being banned by governments in the United States... I'm happy to see Mr. King is now a supporter of homosexual marriage.

Amen Kinger, the Democrats are actively for the new Amerika, that will be unlike anything we grew up in. While the Republicans are fighting other battles and more worried about corporations and not upsetting potential Hispanic voters. Its getting worse every damn year too.

Not really a supporter of it. I don't particularly approve of it. But so long as it's not broadcast over the world, and shoved in everyones face, as is the want of some of these activist groups, i don't really care. Life is too short in this world to be unhappy. You wanna take it up the pooper, and that makes you happy, then hell, God bless you (or damn you, depending on how strongly you believe in one thing or another.)

Point is, America used to be about freedoms. Now it's about restrictions. Facisim is taking over this country and it's wearing a white lab coat.
