CubsFanBudMan
I find it odd that the All-Star Home Run Derby jerseys/BP jerseys for a game in San Francisco chose the Cubs' number font for the back:Didn't see this posted anywhere else and a search for derby only brought up the caps thread and a soccer thread (I also looked 3 pages deep). Billy B
I found that interesting too. I thought they would have used the Giants number font, but they must have thought that the Cubs font was closer to the wordmark on the front.

no97
I actually came here to start a thread about this same subject! Now, it's not like the Giants have the A's numbers (or the Brewers, or White Sox, or the Devil Rays, etc.). Their block numbers are different enough to warrent a spot on the back of these jerseys, aren't they? Now, certainly they aren't the Cubs, or the Pirates, or the Red Sox numbers, but they aren't this either:It just seemed silly to take another teams numbers for the ASG jersey...Moose
Gothamite
I agree. Somebody probably chose them based on their resemblance to the wordmark, without realizing that they belong to the Cubs.Or perhaps thinking that nobody else would realize this.... SabreGuy
Or perhaps thinking that nobody else would realize this....I fear that is most likely the case. I suppose you could say that people who frequent this board are hardly your "average" fan. 63Bulldogs63
There is significant difference in the a's and Giants Block numbers. The A's are more skinny and Long, While the Giants are shorter and wider. I'm sure someone with more credibility can prove this point, unless my eyes are bad and there is no difference....on topic, the Giants used to use a similar number font from 83-93 i believe that is similar to the ones on the Bp's, could it be that they are using that font from that era? Other than the gold drop shadow, whats the difference?Seriously? Look at the insides of all of the numbers. Let's take an 8 for example. The inside part of the 8 in the A's font consists of two octogons (much like the outside part.) The inside part of the Giants' font consists of two squares (like traditional football numbers.) Additionally, there are the differences that the other members have mentioned. They are significantly different. This section of the forum discusses about sport logos and uniforms, and number font is a big role in jerseys. So font, color, style everything matters.
