Go home folks...nothing more to see.

The effort to bring in "new" blood for the hitters was admirable, though.

Well you were spot on with that statement.............................

I'll man up and say that I was mistaken on that front. (And I'm glad I'm wrong. Good for you Rick. Now, keep it up.)

I will say that, ironically, the Cardinals would probably be better off with him pitching than being an outfielder, now, though.

Great for Ankiel, but what a devastating way for Spezio to end his season and possibly career.

Well, Speezer sought out help (I'm sure it wasn't without pressure, but he accepted the pressure to do it), and Tony La Russa says he expects him back by the end of the year.

Now, we know these types of things can recurr even after rehab, and if that's the case, it could derail Scott's career. But if he can successfully rehab and avoid a relapse, I think he'll have another chance. He's got a contract and a supportive group behind him.

And since I'm posting, Ankiel's 1-3 today with double and a run.

I was at the game on saturday, it was just awesome to see how much the crowd has embraced him. He's gotten curtain calls on all his home runs. I don't think the first one on Saturday was needed, but usually in St. Louis once the crowd does one curtain call, they just can't stop and start giving them out to whomever they can.

He also made 2 great plays in the field late in the game.

I hate when fans overuse curtain calls (see: Yankees fans), but Ankiel's deserved 'em.

"Look out along the 3rd base line...."

Fans along the first dase dugout be wary when he's at bat. Two noghts in a row in Nashville I saw him foul off rocket shots that beaned fans badly. Both had be helped out for medical attention one via a stretcher.

I am enjoying see a kid who washed out but overcame it and has made it back to the bigs. Both he and the Hamilton kid in Cinci deserve a lot a credit for all their hard work.
