Shumway
The outcome of the series aside, I really hope that three things are realized by Scioscia and Reagins.1. It might be best served to let Vlad walk at the end of the year. Watching him at the plate with RISP is brutal to watch, since he just swings himself automatically into an 0-2 hole. The whole Vlad hitting bad balls quirk is just like the Brett Favre gunslinger quirk. It's great when it's working, but when it isn't, it looks AWFUL. Plus, why is Vlad batting cleanup when the club's leading HR hitter is 5th or 6th?2. Abreu needs to be kept around. It's great having someone work the count leading into the 3 and 4 spots.3. The platoon at the middle infield needs to end. Aybar, Izturis, and Kendrick are just shuffled around there, so it's no wonder that the former two have made the gaffes that they have. Plus, I will continue to petition for Brandon Wood to be given a shot, as it's been made clear time after time that when a player gets regular ABs, they thrive, just like Napoli does when Mathis is on the shelf, and Mathis does when Napoli is on the shelf.Hopefully Weaver can turn things around on Monday, but the weaknesses are really coming out.I'm in complete agreement here, LMU. The infield situation is strange. I think it really depends what happens with Figgy this offseason. If he stays, I'd probably send Izzy packing before Howie and Aybar, based on age and potential. Wood could be the 3rd baseman if Figgins leaves, although I don't know a whole lot about Wood's defensive play. Hopefully the 3-game set in Anaheim will turn things around for the Halos. I like that the rotation's gonna be Weaver, Kazmir and Lackey for those three games. Hey, maybe in the offseason, someone'll trade a star for the always incredible Gary Matthews, Jr.

How the hell does that happen in a league championship series? Jeez.Because the Dodgers are a product of being a pretty talented team in a weak division, just like the Cardinals were. There's a reason why the Red Sox and Rays (and now probably Yankees) are in the World Series as frequently as they are (I know the Rays have only been once, I just mean that the AL East is really tough). Being in a tough division gives you a HUGE advantage in the playoffs when the teams you're playing are coasting half the season to division titles. oddball
Being in a tough division... what? That's pure b.s. and you know it. Why? Because if that was the case, then the Red Sox should've beaten the Angels no problem and the Rays should not have lost the World Series last year. It's called the better teams advance pure and simple. All those years the Yankees won the titles in the 90's the East purely sucked. As far as what I've seen over the past couple days. The Angels need to sweep at home to have a chance. They need to bench Vladdy. He is not a clutch performer nor is he disciplined enough to get it done under pressure in the playoffs, and well Chone Figgins has resorted back to the good ol' choker he is. Think about the Angels exploits in the post season as the team has failed to produce when the team started depending on these two choke artists. It's amazing to see how many hits these two produce against teams such as Kansas City, Texas, Oakland, Baltimore, but when the weather turns cold, they freeze under pressure. Simply pathetic. I said last year and I firmly believed the Angels should've traded Figgins for a boatload of talent when his stock was high last season. Now they have to either overpay this playoff choker or let him go and get some draft pick. Vladdy is gone anyway, but it's pathetic to watch the year in and year out choking of Figgins in the playoffs. As far as Torre's decision to start Kuroda. I went back and looked at Kuroda's last 10 starts and it wasn't exactly eye opening. They were average at best, with a bunch of 6 inning games and one 8 inning game. He hadn't pitched in a while and you have him pitching in potentially cold Philly and he had a neck or back issue? Not a smart choice, but it's just one game. I'd rather lose 11-0 than the way the Angels lost. It's one game and they are only down 2-1 in the series, where as the Angels are coming home down 0-2. The_Admiral
Yankees about to buy another championship, further ruining Major League Baseball. Really a shame. The Yankees were buying championships when you were in short pants. Not sure if you're aware, but Murderer's Row wasn't built with conscientious salary cap management. Somehow baseball survived. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

oddball
What the hell was Abreu thinking? You don't stop halfway to third and decide to go back. How in the hell did this team win a game? This has got to be the most pathetic excuse for a playoff team. This has got to be the most undisciplined team ever to make the playoffs. If the Angels don't win today, they will be swept and there needs to be some major changes made on this team. Stop building teams to look good in the regular season, build a winner. None of the players on this team seem to learn from past mistakes whether it be this year or in prior years.
