Thunderstix: The Vuvuzelas of America.

I'm at the point where I'm relieved when Tim McCarver and Joe Buck talk because it drowns them out momentarily.

I'd like to pop one of those and strangle the rally monkey with it.

A few years ago, when they were pretty much introduced, I was watching one of the WS games between the Angels and Giants. It was a slow inning, not much commentary, but all I could hear was the deep buzzing sound of the Thunderstix.

At the time, I was in awe of the sound of 50,000 pairs of the inflatable noisemakers. It was very creepy.

Now, it's just irritating, especially when the local hockey team hands them out to children at every game.

Another typical 0-4 from Chone Figgins. I'll warm up the engine and personally escort your arse out of this town and to the unlucky town you sign with. The chant in Anaheim should be, "Hit the road Chone, and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more." The sooner he's gone the better it'll be. As much as I disliked David Eckstein, at least the guy hit in the clutch. Chone Figgins is a pure joke and people should rip into him more than they do A-Rod who at least has shown up in this post season.

As much as I'm not a Yankees fan, I think that thunderstix would be an embarassment to the World Series, therefore I'm pulling for the Yankees.

If not for the thunderstix, my love of the Angels uniforms would force me to root for them, despite my distaste for Bobby Abreu.

Report: ESPN analyst Phillips admits to affair with woman who taunted his wife

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS (CP) ? 7 minutes ago

NEW YORK ? ESPN baseball analyst Steve Phillips admits having an affair with an assistant at the cable network who taunted his wife with phone calls and a letter graphically describing their relationship, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

After 22-year-old production assistant Brooke Hundley was dropped by Phillips, she made repeated phone calls to his wife, Marni, saying "We both can't have him," the newspaper reported, citing a Wilton, Conn., police report.

"I have extreme concerns about the health and safety of my kids and myself," Phillips said in a statement to police.

ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said: "We were aware of this and have already taken appropriate action. We have no further comment."

The 46-year-old Phillips is a former general manager of the New York Mets. Phillips admitted having sex with a team employee, who sued for sexual harassment. That case was settled out of court.

In this latest incident, according to the cited police report, Phillips told police and his wife about the affair, which he said occurred this past summer. The newspaper also reported that Marni Phillips told police she had received "harassing phone calls and text messages" from a woman who claimed to have information about her husband.

Phillips is being sued for divorce by his wife, the mother of their four sons, the Post reported.

Man, I really hope he doesn't get Harold Reynolds'd.

Here's hoping he gets what he deserves (again).

And to pile on against the Mess, I've heard that Mets Limited Partnership profited $48 million from the Madoff scandal.

Attention Older Guys! Keep it in your pants or if you do stray, remain within your demographic! Have you seen this girl? She is "last call" type (they ones which you take something home just because). I will not post links, but you can see her at SportsByBrooks, Deadspin, and the like.

Her letter to Mrs. Phillips is very "Fatal Attraction-esque". Steve McNair may have gotten the better deal out of the two.

Phillies whop the Dodgers 10-4 tonight and will head back to the World Series. Who the hell would've thought that two seasons ago?

So if this Phillies team does in fact repeat, can they be considered one of the most unlikely teams to do so? Or am I just not taking them seriously enough?

I just thought of this....if the Yankees play the Phillies in the World Series, we could seriously face games that take well over 4 hours to play, mainly because of all the runs that'll be scored in these two hitter-friendly ballparks.

I don't remember ever being this disinterested in the MLB playoffs. It's not so much the Braves not being a part of it, but just generally not being excited about these matchups.

If they hadn't run into that 2007 Colorado Rockies buzzsaw, who knows? We could be talking about their third World Series in a row, since I think they'd have beaten that D-Backs team in the NLCS.

They've got a good lineup, and two elite pitchers at the front of the rotation. They're a very, very good baseball team. I don't think you are taking them seriously enough.

No fire this year

The police actually greased the traffic poles so nobody would climb them like last year.

Where I was, it was an extremely subdued celebration - mostly people just chanting "F the Yankees".

I'm not excited about a potential Yankees/Phillies World Series either.

what match up would you have preferred?
