Lakers... ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

They won't lose in LA to the Rockets.

They can't lose in LA to the Rockets (at least the minus Yao Rockets)

Why is it when the Lakers play a team without their big star(s) in the line-up they are befuddled beyond belief?

It's happened all season, and I just don't get it.

If the Lakers played an All-Star team, they would throw every ounce of effort and skill at them.

If they played St. Mary's School for the Gifted, they might lose by 20

It makes NO sense.

Patrick Ewing, assistant coach of the Orlando Magic and former New York Knicks great, has guaranteed a victory for the Magic over the Celtics in Boston.

Nah. The Magic are the better team, but nah. They had their chances.

Eh, if anything, it's good to hear Patrick's got a gig outside of that mind-numbing Snickers commercial.

Well this settles it

Boston congrats on making it back to the Eastern Finals.

Ewing guaranteed the Knicks were going to win ever season, and we know how that worked out.

Hmm, David Stern said he would like to see coaches have the option to challenge officials late-game calls with replay system similar to NFL.

They should adopt that system. However, I don't know if it'd cut down on screw jobs, because the refs have been going to the replay video...and STILL getting calls wrong.

Good. NBA officials are arguably the ones with the most direct influence on a game, as practically every foul call is subjective, which is especially true by the whole "let them play" mentality.

It's called killer instinct Orlando. Rajon Rondo has it, you don't. This is why your season will end after this quarter, even with you leading at the moment.

Yeah, they have a 10 point lead with 11 minutes left and I'm pretty sure that everybody believes that Orlando is doomed until there is 0:00 on the clock and Orlando is winning.

Well, I guess Ewing had to be right one of these years and the rest of us wrong. Well played Orlando...well played.

(assuming the Rock and Jock basket isn't dropped with 30 seconds left or something.)

They'd have to thaw out Dan Cortes first for that though. (Yes, I know he's not dead)

But, uh, since I hate the Red Sox, I'm pretty pleased that the Cs are out. Go Nuggets?

ANYTHING IS POS... except a team with Marbury on it winning a NBA championship!!!

I really wanted the Cavaliers to end the Celtics season. Pay back for last year. Oh well.

Boston is a sisterhood!!!

I think the Celtics did the best they could without KG. I'm satisfied with the way things turned out and I think they exceeded expectations at least a little bit by taking this series to seven games. I think what they need to do from here is rethink the players surrounding the big three and make sure Kevin Garnett and Leon Powe recuperate from their respective injuries over the summer. Unfortunately, their window is beginning to close and they are going to have to think about getting a little younger if they are set on continuing their success over the next several years.

Wow, you're so funny.

Anyway, I thought they could make it past Orlando and possibly even Cleveland (with no Howard, I think Cleveland is a much better matchup), but they didn't have a very big chance of actually going all the way against either Western team... the depth would grind them to their death. I REALLY wanted a Cavs matchup, though I could just as easily be regretting that had they won today.

I think the Cavs will win a close series against the Magic. Orlando is insanely talented. However, if I weren't vehemently rooting for them to continue doing so, I woul dbe so frustrated at how stupid a basketball team they are. They just cannot play with a lead, do not do what they need to do when they need to do it, and are so fantastically inconsistent they really can't put together any run of any kind. That said, if they manage to play defense how they did today, they will win the Cavs series easy. But I don't think that even they can continue to shoot 65% from 3-point land (which is just impossible to overcome, even if many of the shots were open due to a questionable double-team in the post), and when they cool down, they will fail extraordinarily. In this past series, if either team played consistently at all, it would have been a sweep. That was bar-none some of the worst basketball I have seen in a while, a little better today by the Magic, and worse by the Celtics. The Magic are an enigma. They can easily beat Cleveland but even more easily, fall flat on their faces. I think for 2 or three games the good Magic will show up and beat the Cavs, but the Cavs will only take 1 game off, and their rock-solid consistency will win the series. But they will just wither against either West finalist in my opinion. Actually, I think they have a better chance against the Lakers because of their road performance against Houston. But no doubt that LAL is the most talented team in the NBA and as they showed by handing Cleveland their only real home loss of the year (and that was without Bynum, right?), when they show up, it's freaking over. Kobe is 99% of Lebron and the rest of each team compared to each other is laughably unbalanced. I would only hope that the Lakers play Farmar more cause Fisher is becoming a liability. On the other hand, if Daniel Gibson actually plays some real minutes over Mo Williams, this series is over in 4.

With KG I honestly think the Celtics win this series in five. Playing without him (and my Man, Leon Powe), for much of the last two (wow, it's been three now) months has been excruciating on the team, and especially in this series. A force like him underneath to counteract the dominance of Howard would be indispensable. Perkins played commendable defense on him but the foul, fatigue, and offensive relief he would have given the both of them as well as Baby would have just suffocated the Magic IMO. With Leon in the mix as well, well, my arms are tingling just thinking about it. Oh, what could have been.

But back to the current group. This was an immensely frustrating postseason to watch, and I hate how they wasted so many opportunities in this postseason... I mean, they could easily be in Game 2 vs. Cleveland tonight if they didn't :censored: up so much. But then I have to step back and remember who they were missing, and the heart we have seen from the guys who did emerge this postseason. Rondo is now nationally recognized as probably a top-5 point guard in the league (I personally think there needs to be more consistency and better shooting, but he's certainly right there), Davis became the talk of the sports world for one game, Perkins was always there playing reasonably well to very well each night (just DUNK, God damnit!), and Pierce and Allen had some incredible performances on an empty tank from being the soul of this team the last 3 months. House is an animal and Scal is not the worst player ever. Steph is a capable point guard who didn't really hurt us very much and is really the reason we won Game 5. I would love to see him back another year, and there were absolutely no problems with him when he was here. Mikki and Tony Allen suck. But, we already knew that. The point is, this team faced 10 times the diversity that the 2007-08 team did, and had no Posey to fall on either. They responded more admirably than anyone could have reasonably expected had you informed the world of this current situation at the beginning of the year. Most importantly, they proved that the Boston Celtics are not done yet and when next year rolls around, you still need to be afraid. (Starting 5: This recent Rondo-fresh Allen-fresh Pierce-healthy KG-Perkins with House, Powe, this recent Baby (I grudgingly admit, I hope he returns), Marbury, and an improved Bill Walker and Pruitt and maybe Giddens along with Scal off the bench = still absolutely beastly, even though the Big 3 are getting slightly up there in age, they ain't running out quite yet)

So while these last 4 days (2 of them in particular) have been executed like absolute dog :censored: (collective 0-5 with 2 Game 7 home losses, and 1 star player cancer diagnosis), I can still be thankful for what the Celtics (and Bruins) have given us this year, and for I have no reason to hang my head looking toward next year.

But, I can't and won't lie in all my pogniant-y reflection, this game still sucked. I don't want to root for only the Red Sox yet.
