I usually hate Nike gimmicks...esp the SoD bball uniforms

but...holy crap...those FSU uniforms are incredible.

I think its because we have NEVER seen a football uniform executed in this kind of way. I think the pants are rad.

The excuse they used of the black helmet "paying homage to chief osceola" is complete bs tho.

could have kept the gold helmet...but this is still pretty awesome!

FSU has one of the coolest collar/sleeve markings and number fonts. So instead they scrap those items and use Oregon State's font. Maybe if the number font was changed back and the helmet was gold I'd like it more. What's up with the gold shoulder lines?

I saw the number font update coming a long time ago. As a matter of fact, I've had a complete set drawn out for several months now for an FSU concept I never finished. Now that this has come out, I don't have to nor will I.

All else being what it is, that helmet absolutely MUST remain gold if FSU does in fact update their overall look. It's not a hatred of unnecessary black that's my source of ire (especially since black makes plenty sense in this color scheme); it's that FSU's current helmet is among the best in the entire football world, college or pro...and I don't like the idea of FSU letting Nike s#!t on that in favor of chasing a couple merchandising dollars.

As for the rest...I don't mind the feather print on the pants...in fact, I actually kinda like it. I do kinda wish they'd find some kind of way to "finish" it however; the cutoff thing looks a little offsetting right now. (Also, they MUST include a set of gold pants with that design.) I don't get the shoulder wire thing, but it's a minimal thing at best right now.

All in all...as a devout Seminole, I can live with an update along these lines...but if and ONLY if the helmet remains gold (and if gold pants become part of the package), should FSU overhaul their football uniforms for next year. I knew the day was coming, and I'm cool with that, as times do change, and yes, FSU's current look is every bit as iconic as that of a Penn State or an Ohio State, BUT...so long as Nike doesn't try to turn FSU into the University of Oregon of Northwest Florida, I'm cool with a possible update in line with this 37% lighter Pro Combat set that's 46% lighter when wet than other uniforms are when wet. <_<

EDIT: One other thing...for those thinking the numbers are the same as those of Oregon State, they're not, but they're also not that far off. FSU's "font", whatever it's called, that of Oregon State and Connecticut's current custom font all look very similar, and, if I'm not mistaken, are all based off Armada, to varying degrees. It's also (not?) a coincidence that all three are Nike schools...and it's possible Nike actually developed all three custom fonts. Just putting that out there.

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

I remember reading about this, apparently Nike will be doing a bunch of rivalry week pro-combat jerseys for teams, much like last years enforcer jerseys with Navy and Army. OhSU and now FSU have showed their unis, who's next?

The shoulder "pattern" is called "'Flywire" and it is "Nike Flywire technology, integrated open mesh windows for breathability".

I think they more or less put it there to show off their new technology, flex their muscles, or for added coolness... similar to the whole Oregon Diamond plated/Wing thing.

This article says that they are limited edition, and what the FSU football program does with them afterward is at their discretion.

Maybe they'll change the coloring. I hope black helmets are not here to stay. I hate FSU, but they always had awesome uniforms.

The only things I don't like about them are the black helmet, it makes the look too drab, and the partial feather on the side of the pants. If the feather was complete I'd have no problems with them at all. I'm surprised how much I like them, but I guess if you keep unneeded piping off the jerseys and pants, I'm fine with it. I think the patterns on the shoulders are becoming the new striping that we use to see on the sleeves. I have to say that the undershirt is just plain awesome and the gloves are cool too!

What's with the spear on the sleeve of the undershirt? I guess with sleeves shrinking as much as they have, putting the logo on the undershirt seems to make sense, but it's not a good look. These are good and have some interesting visual pieces, but I don't get how these are absolutely wonderful or earth shattering.

Those gloves are sick. Makes a good target for the QB.

FSU has had its own custom font for quite a few years. It looks like these numbers are part of the same font, the one that's been shown as "Florida State", "Seminoles", and "Unconquered".

FSU, UConn and Oregon State all use different fonts. I think Rickabaugh Graphics might have designed UConn's font, as it seemed to be part of the identity package he designed earlier this decade.
