It's gonna be weird to see Tomlinson on a team that's not the Chargers. It'd be nice to see him come to the Panthers, or if he really wants to rile things up, go to the Broncos. Maybe Holmgren will find a way to get him on the Browns. :P

Either that, or he'll go to the Jags in preparation of that team's ending up about 130 miles up the coast.

I could see him returning to his home state and signing with the Texans. Steve Slaton took a massive step back and LT's experience could fit in huge for a team that's ready to take that next step.

Skins, Packers and Seahawks also come to mind.

Here's what I like about LT to the Packers: Even though he's slowing down, the Packers could use a RB who's a receiving threat as well. Plus, I like having somebody capable to share some of the load with Ryan Grant - and I'm not a big Brandon Jackson or Ahman Green supporter. Even still, I'd like to see GB draft a RB somewhere in the RD 2-4 range. A speed back to use as a change of pace, which LT wouldn't represent.

Agreed and to add to that Tomlinson is an established back who could bring is knowledge of the position to help out Grant and the way the Packers offense is set up LT would be more of a receiving threat like you said and if the price is right why not sign Tomlinson who is arguably one of the best to ever play the game.

I find that drafting a Running Back unless you take one in the First Round isn't as much as a gamble the one good thing about the Backs is there will always be Backs and you can always find that diamond in the rough in later years. With the first three picks that the Packers have I think they have bigger holes to fill then Running Back.

I'm NOT saying that I think this will happen (in fact I'm pretty certain that it won't even be entertained), but IF Tomlinson is ready to accept a role in a "committee" situation, he seems like the exact kind of guy that Andy Reid would bring in to round out the RB corps now that Westbrook is not likely to return. He would complement the inexperienced and non-vertical McCoy, and would be occasionally spelled by Weaver. He could also serve as a mentor for Eldra Buckley, who they seem intent on keeping around and training to be a between-the-tackles power type, even though he's pretty tiny.

I'd assume that he wants to sign with a team that has a shot, and while I (and most Eagles fans) realize how far back the team slipped last year, the perception around the league is that they're "right there" (not sure how other players would react if McNabb is moved, but I don't think the perception would change that much.)

Of course, I don't think they'll even reach out to him, but crazier things have happened. The Packers make sense too, except for one thing - would he really want to sign in a freezing cold city after playing in San Diego and Texas? Granted, Phila. isn't exactly a tropical paradise, but we only really have two or three really bad games... and usually, our really bad is Green Bay's average!

I don't know. Like the whole league grows up in the southeast. Most of them eventually end up having to adapt to mildly adverse weather. The Eagles probably practice indoors most of the time anyway.

ESPN is reporting that the Chargers have stopped paying Ladanian Tomlinson's power bill. Seems wrong to me that they would have to just dump their leading rusher, but unfortunately it makes sense. He'll find a new team though, and fast. The jersey sales numbers alone would be worth it.

Oh and to Puckguy, thanks for Sproles! :)

Wait...They paid his power bill?! What the hell gets written into these contracts? A plate of M&Ms every day without the red ones?

Yeah, that was definitely a Tnak move, my bad.

This would be a good time to point out that unless a CBA is sorted out the last 8 sides from 2009 won't be able to sign free agents. So unless something gets sorted LT to the Packers ain't happening, sorry!

Except for the whole "Packers lost in the Wild Card round" thing. So...um...yeah...they can sign Tomlinson.

My mistake, knew I should have double checked!

The whole lack of CBA thing could play out very interestingly in putting together line ups for the 2010 season. Teams like the Cowboys, who need upgrades, but would be unable to sign free agents, could be in a bad way. Whereas teams like the Patriots, who can sign free agents but have the backbone of a decent side could be set for a bit of a jump forward. But the owners will have to balance how to cope without the cap as well. Lots of expensive free agents might turn out to be a mill stone in a years time.

The Eagles have released Westbrook.

Well this sets up LT to the Eagles now.

Read my post above. He'd have to accept being part of a 3-man rotation. I think they're pretty committed to McCoy being the #1 (and by that, I mean getting 50% of the carries and 75% of the receptions out of the backfield) with Weaver and whoever splitting the other 50%. Crazier things have happened, but I don't think they're looking to add a guy like him.

I think an ideal backfield pairing for San Diego would be a resigned-for-less-money LaDanian Tomlinson paired with a traded-for-Antonio-Cromartie Felix Jones. Not very likely, but if I were SD, I'd feel real comfortable rolling that tandem out with Rivers, Gates and Jackson.

If a player is released, he is able to sign with any team that offers him a contract. The Top 8 are only restricted when it comes to free agents via contract expiration.

LOL. I was watching this live, and knew right away what was happening, because that didn't sound even close to Westbrook's voice. How did the screeners not pick up on this?

Isn't the deadline for an uncapped 2010 season the first week in March?

Yes. The NFL fiscal year starts on the initial Friday in March (March 5, 2010). The owners opted out of the CBA, thus March 5, 2010 is the deadline for a new CBA to be agreed upon, or the 2010 season will be uncapped.

This isn't even the first time! The Stern mutants have gotten Sportscenter like three times now. I know they got Patrick once by playing Steve Bartman. There was another.
