This is my new favorite cap. Holy crap.

I HATE the numbers, though. Other than that, this is good. It's not an upgrade over the teal-focus that they had when they entered the league in 1993, but it's an upgrade over the blandness that they had before. Once again, that orange cap is the sex.

DDOSed by the Marlins. Wonderful.

Those numbers are like half varisty block, half Rockwell. How odd. Anyway, I feel like they almost got it right, except orange as their second main color does not suit them. Again, would've like to have seen the red and green in the ballpark logo used in the beveling for a full South Beach art deco rainbow. I think we're ready for a rainbow team again. White lettering on grey is an interesting novelty, not totally sure if it works yet.

Wasted potential, but overall, it's an improvement over the teal-trimmed White Sox. I give it a 6.75/10

They're already bordering on color overkill, that would just push them over the top.

Nah. Green is cool. Besides, I say be over the top. You're the Miami Miami!

They're decent. I agree that "Marlins" should be on the home, and the black alt would probably be better served being teal. I don't hate the black, but teal would've been nice.

The only things that are really driving me nuts is that the outline color pattern on the "M" isn't continued through all of the letters. It just looks so off. Could've continued that to the numbers, but that might have been a little much. However, I think if you going to do this sort of brightness, just go all out. Ditch the black hat/jersey, make it teal, extend the color pattern to every letter.

And the white letters on the gray are a big no from me. They look so so so off.

Hmm...Somehow, I don't think we'll be seeing much of that gray jersey. Also, why "Miami" at home?

Something about them wanting to emphasize that they're from Miami wherever they are, even when at home.

I guess the Rangers do something similar.

Yep, hate it. Needed the abstract sunset ocean design on all three letters. Now it's 50 black, 20% orange, 15% blue, 10% silver, 5% yellow, and 100% reason to remember the unis as the biggest uniform disaster in MLB history.

Really? The Biggest Uniform Disaster in MLB History? Worse than this?

what a disaster, the whole set looks liek pure :censored:. glad im not a marlins fan because that what ever it is that theyre gonna be wearing is a disgrace and a slap in the face to the organization, the players, and the fans. :censored: look liek a bunch of clip art, there is no primary logo, the hat looks boring, the unifroms are even more boring. the miami script looks so bad it looks so uneven with the giant m on one side and have 3 letters on the other side. the only jersey that looks kind of okay is the orange. god, i honestly feel bad for marlins fans...they lost thier team at the end of the 2011 season, what you got here are the jeff loria's miami miamians...complete fail of a redesign in my opinion. i may have went overboard but i dont care, the marlins look liek a joke of a team now. the stadium is a mess, thier identity is a mess, and thier owner is an ass.

Bad.

1. The inner silver shadow on the M is unnecessary and dumb. It almost blends into the white M version (which is good, since it shouldn't be there to begin with), but on the black M version, it stands out like a sore thumb (and looks white from a distance).

2. The A should be pointed. It looks like it is from a different font than the rest of the set.

3. The number font is not only horrible, it doesn't go with the logo. The font from the tickets would have looked much better. Oh, and the shadow within the outline is bad.

4. The white font on the road jersey is inexcusable. From a distance, the wordmark will blend into the jersey. They should have used the same wordmark as on the home jersey. More accurately, the home jersey should say Marlins.

5. The second M in Miami is too big. I understand that you have to make the ends on pointed or rounded letters go past the height of normal letters, but not here. With two outlines on the M, it makes the taller points stand out, and the M looks much bigger than the A and I around it.

6. The fish swoosh on the Marlins wordmark should be on the M. There is no point putting it in the middle of the word and breaking from their identity.

7. All letters of the wordmarks should have the same shading as the M. If you are going to do it, go all-out. There is no reason to have one multicolor illuminated M next to letters with messy bottom shadows.

8. Which brings me to the final part. For as much as these were supposed to be revolutionary, they are bland except for a few bright colors in small amounts. They will wear a black hat for almost all games. The home jersey has a black wordmark on white, and the other jerseys feature white wordmarks. All jerseys are in the trendy retro "let's put piping on the sleeves and neck" template that seemingly every rebrand has used since 2000. That isn't exactly the modern or futuristic look they were going for. They should have been able to come up with some sleeve striping without being traditional and doing what everyone else does. And for the colors on there, we see primarily black and white. You will see some bright colors up close, but from any distance these will look like a lot of other sets. The Marlins failed at whatever they were trying to do. I can't imagine how so many people warned that these would be garish and we would hate them. These are only slightly less boring than the new Padres' set.

How good is this redesign? Well, I'm a Rays fan, yet I purchased a Marlins jersey and hat. Well done, Marlins.

No, you're not. They are your team of the moment (or at least one of them), just as you like random teams (normally trendy ones) in every sport and hop on every bandwangon possible. I would bet you have never been to a Rays' game, and maybe never even to Florida. It isn't like you are some longtime Rays fan buying gear of the hated rival Marlins, and those teams don't even have a rivalry to begin with, so I'm not sure what your point was.

Can't wait to see this on the field. Good Gawd!

Me too, and I don't think that image does that orange justice. It's radioactive!

By the way, I'm loving that blue drop shadow. It's so unexpected and nontraditional, but it still works (as the admiral says) because Hey! You're the Miami Marlins! Go for it!

That's three exclamation points in this post so far, which is probably perfect for this new direction. Bright orange jerseys! Crazy-colored logo! Weirdo home run Bellagio water feature! Marlins baseball 2011!

Couldn't agree more. For as jarringly bad as parts of this set are (script on the orange and away jerseys come to mind), there are other parts that are unbelievably good. Both of the hats are excellent. The orange is bright and unique, the black looks great, and both, like them or not, are unlike anything else in the league.

Good in theory, bad in execution.

That yellow outline at the top of the M has bothered me since the first time I saw it, and it looks terrible with paired with an entire wordmark. Very out of place and turns would could have been a classy, unique logo into a mish-mosh of colors. It should be turned orange, or even light blue.

The number font is godawful. Doesn't match the rest of the jersey. They have a great font that channels to art deco architecture of Miami, but use THAT as their number font?!

The cap logo is way too big.

White lettering on a gray jersey is a no-no. Luckily it has a big enough outline that it's not quite as bad as white-on-gray could be. Still, that should be black lettering that matches the home.

There's a too many outlines on the wordmark, especially on the away, black, and orange jerseys. Hence why the white jersey is by far my favorite of the bunch. No need for triple outlines.

Oh, so you have to live in a location or have been there to be a fan. I guess I've been rooting for the wrong football team all these years. I'm much more of a chiefs fan than a Rockies fan and I've been to close to a hundred rockies games and no chiefs games. Once I see lights out change from the chargers rays or clippers I'll agree with you but as of now you are absolutely off base.

I actually really like this stuff and will be buying a jersey and both hats, but it certaintly won't be the grey jersey it looks bad.
