Because, most importantly, OT/shootout decisions should not have equal weight to regulation wins.

No, just do it like soccer and get rid of overtime completely. If it ends in a tie at the end of regulation, both teams get a point.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

I'd like to see 10 minute, five-on-five OT before deciding on a tie.

I'd like to see the international 10-minute 4-on-4, or the split 5-minute 4-on-4, then 5-minute 3-on-3 the NHL's been toying around with.

I'm also a big fan of the 3-2-1-0 standings setup, if the NHL insists on keeping shootouts. And if the heavens opened and they went back to ties, how about 3 for a regulation win, 2 for an OT win, and 1 for an OT loss or tie?

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

Lightning get a huge win at home against the Stinkin' Panthers. 10 points behind in the standings, they won 6-3, including 3 by Marty St. Louis on his 900th career game. With an empty net, Lecavalier stole the puck, passed it to Marty, who hit Stamkos streaking down the ice, only for Stamkos to stop, pass it to Marty who netted it for his hat trick. Classy and Heads Up by Stamkos.

So that makes the Lightning 6-0-1 since they went 0-7-1 to start 2012. 3 points behind Winnipeg in 10th, and 8 points out of first place in the division.

And that was your Lightning Update!

I'm completely okay with this.

Initially regular season OT was brought in to add more excitement to a game, but teams still tended to play for the tie, so they added the loser point so teams would decide since they already had that point they could go all out to score, and add excitement to the game, but teams still played for the tie.

So they add the shootout--where you can't play for the tie--but it feels too contrived--just go back to ties. I've seen tie games that were satisfying, great hockey.

Keep sudden death in the playoffs--it adds to the drama--no playing for the tie--but I doubt the league or the NHLPA will ever go for sudden death in the regular season--and that's fine--keeping it in the playoffs is a good idea.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

I have no idea why I am reading rumors about Edmonton possibly moving Gagner at the deadline. He is only 22 yrs old!

If he can bring in a Top 4 Defensemen why not? I mean they'll have enough trouble paying RNH, Eberle and Hall when they're up and especially under the new CBA, that'll be a big chunk of the Oilers payroll.

There was nothing wrong with ties. The league says the shootout is good because fans like because it's exciting. It's exciting because it decides the game. It would be exciting if they played rock paper scissors at center ice too, because that would decide who gets the extra point.

That extra point is why we are never getting 3-2-1 or straight W-L. The league LOVES point inflation. The more teams they can artificially keep in a playoff race, the more money they make.

Does anybody know that the standings would look like if there were no shootouts or loser points?

Trading the Pilots/Brewers for the Bucks? Milwaukee definitely gets the better end of that deal.

Of course, this develeopment also makes great fodder for the "NHL Babysitting" thread*. No doubt the NLL's Washington Stealth (who currently play half an hour up I-5 in Everett, for lack of a suitable arena in Seattle) are following this situation as well.

* What happened to that thread anyway? I don't see it listed in the first five pages' worth of threads and I find it hard to believe it's been buried deeper than that.

Its here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/81108-this-chart-isnt-for-charles-james-its-for-james-charles/

This really interests me, I hope a team gets put in Seattle.
