BigBubba
Assuming the Leafs get at least one point in one of their 3 games in hand on Ottawa, they'd be in position to face Boston in the playoffs. Nobody cares about your humungous-big signature. PotD: 29/1/
njmeadowlanders
There's a report in today's NY Post that because of the expiring CBA issues, there won't be European games to open the 2012-13 season. This means the Rangers will have to open their season with a California road trip and work their way back east after that while Phase II of the MSG Renovations are undertaken. They did Western Canada this season, and so they wouldn't be "at" that division next season.
NEW.ERA
Bad road trip for the Jets. Would you Hawk fans take back Dustin Byfuglien? JETS|PACK|JAYS|NUFC|BAMA|BOMBERS|RAPS|ORANJE|
Kramerica Industries
Flyers also had a bad past few days.Rangers continue to impress me. They finally have enough offense to make Hank's efforts fruitful. Their 33 wins and 71 points are not a fluke by any stretch.
Magnus
Does anybody know what the standings would look like if there were no shootouts or loser points?I made a spreadsheet with that purpose in mind. It's not that hard to do, really. Anything that isn't a win for a team is a loss, so I add those columns together.

bosrs1
Yeah I imagine the Hornets being owner-less and doing even worse than the Kings attendance wise would make them the first target (particularly since the Kings problems, namely the new arena, are being worked on and could be solved in the next few months to say nothing of new ownership already waiting in the wings in Sac). Plus from a historical perspective it would make less of a mess to fold the short undistinguished history of the Hornets franchise into the reborn Sonics (who by rule will maintain their pre-OKC history), than to fold the 68 year history of the Sacramento/KC/Omaha/Cincy/Rochester franchise into the Sonics own lengthy history. DarkJourney
It's perfect: Hornets move to Seattle and then you flip the Sonics to the Northwest and the Thunder to the Southwest.

Anything that isn't a win for a team is a loss, so I add those columns together.I believe the question being asked was: What would standings look like if there were still ties? I did a sheet of my own for this:Calculations, based on ESPN standings after 2/5:W = regulation or overtime wins (ROW)L = losses (L) plus overtime losses (OTL) minus shootout losses (SOL)T = SOL + shootout wins (SOW)Atlantic GP W L T PTSNYR 50 30 13 7 67 [1]PHI 52 29 18 5 63 [4] (2)PIT 53 23 21 9 55 [5]NJD 52 21 20 11 53 [7]NYI 51 18 27 6 42Northeast GP W L T PTSBOS 51 28 17 6 62 [2] (3)TOR 52 24 22 6 54 [6]OTT 55 22 26 7 51MTL 53 19 26 8 46BUF 52 18 27 7 43Southeast GP W L T PTSWAS 52 26 23 3 55 [3] (4)FLA 51 21 21 9 51 [8]WPG 54 22 27 5 49TBL 51 21 25 5 47CAR 54 20 30 4 44Central GP W L T PTSSTL 51 29 15 7 65 [1]DET 53 29 17 7 65 [4] (2)NSH 53 29 20 4 62 [5] (4)CHI 53 25 21 7 57 [6]CMB 52 11 33 8 30Northwest GP W L T PTSVAN 52 28 15 9 65 [2] (3)MIN 52 20 21 11 51CGY 52 22 25 5 49COL 54 19 27 8 46EDM 52 18 27 7 43Pacific GP W L T PTSSJS 50 23 18 9 55 [3] (5)DAL 51 23 22 6 52 [7]LOS 53 21 22 10 52 [8]PHX 52 21 24 7 49ANA 51 18 28 5 41 Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop! NEW.ERA
Flames would still be 3 back, still I'm all for ties coming back. You should win as a team, or lose a team. The_Admiral
Ties are the dumbest. Ten-minute overtime before a shootout and maybe we can have fewer. The_Admiral
I was going to say five minutes of 5-on-5, five of 4-on-4. 3-on-3 and you're just having a shootout with people in the way. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Funky Bunky
10 minutes would be much better than 5, but I don't understand why they just can't have a full 20, with a shootout after that if you must. At most, it would just be another hour. I realize that teams have to be somewhere the next day, but just schedule the flight or whatnot an extra hour later just in case. It won't be much of a problem.Anything to have less skill competitions.
