nash61
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie WSH will make formal announcement in about 30 minutes that Adam Oates is the new coach of the Capitals. Just as @DarrenDreger reported. In the spirit of bringing back former Caps to coach (Hunter, Oates) can they please please please bring Jim Carey in to be the goaltending coach? Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy. Coast2CoastAM2006
Scott Howson has apparently turned Ryan Murray into the anti-Ricky Williams.I wonder if this is what it was like following hockey in the early seventies, when you had the likes of the Seals and Scouts constantly running into garden rakes. As an Islanders fan I am so glad Scott Howson is a complete ing imbecile.Unfortunately as this proves Garth Snow is also a ing imbecile; oh well.I couldn't properly read that article and the last few posts on the idiots that run Columbus and the Isles without this playing.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF_rWzDlL5U Spoilers! BigBubba
Pavel Bure, Mats Sundin, Joe Sakic, and Adam Oates have all been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Maz
In other news, the KHL is playing a few games in Brooklyn.http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/khl-brooklyn-games-official-russian-league-official-trashes-144824248--nhl.htmlThey say MSG (which I'm gonna guess is way nicer than most of the rinks in Russia) is "no longer suited to modern hockey"... so they choose a basketball arena to cram an ice rink into instead. Those crazy Russians. The_Admiral
Dave Andreychuk was just a compiler, and trying to make the 2004 Lightning's narrative into "Finally The Time Has Come For Dave Andreychuk" is why people make fun of the NHL.The only two I'm a thousand times sold on are Sakic (one of the greatest hockey players of all time) and Sundin (he was really good too!). Adam Oates, meh, I know he was really good once, but I think I sorta missed it. Bure, yeah probably, I guess. Shanahan can sit and spin. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
Don
Breaking: Caps announce Joe Juneau and Calle Johansson will join coaching staff.Thats a joke. Seriously, not a fan of the hire, wouldve rather had Haviland to be honest (out of the rumored finalists). Oates is still kind of green and that fits GMs mantra for hiring coaches but with a team that should be set up to win now I'd rather have someone with head coaching experience. Hes a smart cookie so im hoping things will go fine but we'll see. Kramerica Industries
I wasn't really sure if Pavel Bure would get in, but I'm glad he did. His career was cut short by injuries, not by ineffectiveness. He was one of the best pure goal scorers the NHL has ever seen, and probably one of the fastest players the NHL has ever seen too. I thought the other three were obvious, even Oates. I'm kind of surprised by Shanahan's lack-of nomination, but his day will come soon enough, probably next year. That's not really all that big a deal. I'm not sure of Andreychuk at all.
Corvus
I'm glad Pavel got in. I've never been bitter against him leaving Vancouver, and it looks like the team was trying to screw with him at the time. I always wonder what might have happened if we'd been able to keep Larionov and Bure together more than one year.
